Good morning All,

Been a foxsat user for some time and have been reasonable impressed done a hard drive update to ITB which helped.

not having been on the forum for sometime but wondered if we are any nearer getting the the network function to work.

I would like to view some content in other rooms without loads of cables or having to transfer to usb stick.

I did wonder if I could connect a wireless NAS drive anyone tried this ?

But if you are not carefull it could work out cheaper to bite the bullet and buy a second recon box.

The ethernet port will only ever be used for vod services. So far only bbci player (itv player is supposed to arrive about now)

You can use tv link with Omnilink.

Didn't somebody find a NAS that could be written to via the USB port on it, but was networked by the usual Ethernet connection? So the HDR wrote via the USB and then the files were available to networked devices. Or is my mind playing tricks?

If I understand grahams reply the Foxsat network connection will only act as an input ?

Anyway doing a bit more research I found this on Av forums :

To move files between the HDR & my network, I'm using the following very successfully:
1. WDTVLive network media player - which acts as a great NAS server even for Linux formatted HDD's.
2. 1Tb WD Green hard disk in an external USB housing
3. A manual USB switch
4. Three standard USB cables
Set up:
1. Format the 1Tb drive in EXT3 (no problem with the WDTV player recognising this)
2. Plug in the 1Tb drive to the common USB switch terminal of the USB switch
3. Plug in one USB switch input/output to the HDR, the other to the WDTVLive player.
Operation:
1. With switch in HDR position, you can move files between the HDR and the 1Tb drive, and watch a file directly off the drive if it has already been recorded using the HDR & you have kept the two supporting files.
2. With the switch in the WDTVLive position, you can share anything on the 1Tb drive with other computers on the network, and play to the TV via the WDLive player itself.

I find this set up gives me all the flexibility that I need. I have suggested Ext3 formatting so that you can watch files that are >4Gb off the 1Tb drive, either on the TV via the HDR or WDTV player, or on any of the computers on your network. Credit to NICK123


Interesting need to think about this may be a solution here somewhere with all the bits i've got llying around.

Just for your information, Network Multiroom is part of the Humax next generation products but it wasn't possible to fit to the current Foxsat range. The new Freeview HD products feature it and I am sure that the next Freesat product will also feature it (although no release date for that has been decided yet so I wouldn't wait for it).
