Hey, ive got a Blackberry Bold 9700. I see that the latest OS 6 has leaked but as im not a huge fan of unofficial operating software, I was wondering if anyone knows what the latest official OS for the handset is? Im on T-Mob if it helps. My current OS is 5.0.0.593

I've got OS6 on mine running perfectly fine and much better than OS5! Hoping an official version isn't to far away.

To answer your question, the latest official OS for 9700 is AT&T 5.0.0.979. You can install by deleting the vendor file.

Erm, I'm gonna sound a right numpty here, but - how do you update it?

I got one of these but I don't know how to (or didn't even know you it could be) updated.

You need Desktop Manager, use it to back up your phone at first, then you could do a security wipe on the phone or use BBSAK to do a wipe, this will clear out the phone so it's back to defaults, once you install the latest OS, delete the vendor file from the Apploader folder, then load up Desktop Manage or AppLoader and update, then restore your backup.

Sounds a bit complex but relatively easy to do. There are plenty of guides on the net/youtube to show you how to do things.

Same here, we've waited long enough for a decent browser! Have you noticed any mem leaks? Crackberry is going on about them but most I've lost is 5mb in 48hrs

Now and then but not as much as those on Crackberry. Love the browser but mine struggles to load big web pages always get an error saying page is to large, this is down to the memory as 9870 users don't have the same issue. Just have to wait for a more polished and official version of OS6 but I'll stick with it as it's simply better than OS5 and FAST!

I got my first browser issue this morning but aside from that it works well, but then again the old one was useless.
I'm going to delete some of the COD's later to free up some RAM - only got 65mb left.

Don't think we'll see an offcial one until after christmas, they want to sell as many 9870's but this leak might slow that down!

what network are you on? UMA is 100% instant now (on Orange)

Ahh nice, I'm just waiting on some hybrids for this bad boy! There's one out at the mo but will wait for better ones. Was a constant hybrid user while on OS5. Used Shrink to delete some unnecessary apps while installing OS6.

Ahh cool with the UMA I'm on o2. Don't you feel as though you've just got a new phone, that's what I feel like with this new OS.
