So this week one of the stronger dancers has gone:

Spoiler
Jimi Mistry

As well as being an entertainment program it is actually supposed to be a dance contest and for me that person going whilst Ann Widdecome is still there is a real travesty.

At the end of the day its the viewers who decide. However, I wonder whether this is the week that the Widders fans wake up and realise that her winning or making the final would make a mockery of the show.

Are there any people who have voted for Widders but in the light of this weeks elimination are considering doing something different?

Probably not.

I don't think the tide will turn until we lose one of the big 4...and even then I'm not that sure.

Ann making the final would make for a rubbish and very one sided final reminiscent of series one which was only 50% watchable

I really, really hope we don't.

But I'm very concerned as to who will be the 5th dancer in the semi final.

I expect it'll be somebody with a 'journey'...

To be honest, unless she resigns (which she won't) Ann will be here for a very long time

Has anyone ever resigned before - not out of injury or family problems?

He got a lot of flak for resigning but personally I think he did the honorable thing.

Thanks - that was the one series I missed. People are right, I really can't see ann doing the same

Ann has apparently said she won't quit. I know that people are entitled to use their votes whatever way they want but it's a shame to see her stay over Jimi (in my opinion).

He only resigned though because he has signed up to another gig not expecting to last that long. I can't see Ann doing it.

If they would stop accepting contestants like this in the first place.........and keep it to an even playing field where its all up for grabs equally, then this would not happen.

Its was humerous in the first few weeks to see Ann stay.........but at this stage when good dancers are going over her.......the joke is over !! I hope the tide turns soon and people get sense.

I agree, although he's still treated like shit on here by some.

I had hoped that we would have seen people turning away from her this week thanks to her turn on ITT which did start to see those previously ambivalent begin to dislike her. Coupled with her turn tonight with the judges I had started to hope in vain...

I'm still hoping. Her true colours are starting to show through. She genuinely believes that she is doing the right steps and is coming across as hugely entitled that anyone questions her or her dancing. Her comments about "mating rituals" and whatnot are insulting to the professionals. I genuinely cannot call what she is doing either dancing or entertaining.

But who knows? Maybe there are people out there who buy into the whole "judges are mean" thing and cheer that shoot-from-the-hip-Ann is giving them whatfor. Maybe they find the sight of Anton nearly herniating himself amusing. Maybe, and I really hope not, she's here for the long haul. She's already sure she's going to be here in 2 weeks - for that alone, I wish she'd gone. Besides, we've still got an Ann rumba to see. Well, given her refusal to do anything that may resemble a Latin, we probably will see a jolly hockey sticks rumba, with no hanky panky at all. There aren't enough roll-eyes smilies in the world for that one.

Such a shame that people still fail to realise that the dancing is only a very small part of it. Why do you think professional dance competitions are not televised in mainstream primetime TV slots? Because no-one would watch them, that's why.

SCD is all about the personalities of the contestants and how much they move us with their stories and development. If it were about the dancing ability alone, then the last two winners, Tom Chambers and Chris Hollins, would surely have lost out. The reason it can never be viewed as a dancing competition is because there are some personalities, because of their age, shape, fitness and background, who are always going to stand a better chance in the technical stakes than the others.

Those celebrities that do get knocked out at the expense of celebrities that are clearly not as technically gifted them should not bleat. They probably weren't that well known or had enough charisma during the show to attract the voters. But, as a result of the programme, their profile and career would have received the type of boost that most celebrities would die for.

It's nothing more than a popularity contest and who has the biggest fanbase, dancing ability matters not a jot.

For quite a lot of viewers the dancing is more than a 'little' part of it. Of course it's not all about dancing, but if the dancing was insignificant it wouldn't be in the title of the show. The whole point is to see how well a celebrity can learn to dance and perform - they're not mutually exclusive. If there's no respect for the dancing at all, then why not just have a stand-up comedy show on instead, because that is effectively Strictly without the dancing.

Problem is some of the people voting for Ann don't ordinarily watch SCD so firstly they have no other reasons to watch other that Ann (i.e they won't vote for any other celebs over Ann), and secondly the don't care about making a mockery of the show.

I think you may be right. Widders last week and all that. Fun while it lasted but enough is enough. I am gutted for Jimi, he was the last person I expected to leave, and also that Michelle was again in the bottom two.
