It clearly has nothing to do with ego. Seems like you're trying to vent on something that has nothing to do with this.

You're wrong as well since he did try to set a lap earlier but Massa got in the way. When the total lap time is only 70 seconds it's hard to find a good gap.

Their strategy was absolutely identical to Red Bull who also sent Vettel out after the red flag but they pitted when they realised the circuit conditions were awful.

He was unfortunate about the Massa block but these things happen - that's why drivers should set a banker lap rather than sitting in the garage. He started his first flying lap with just over 3 minutes 30 seconds on the clock so it was still very late. Vettel started his first flying lap with about 6 minutes 30 seconds on the clock. Big difference. Track position is imperative at this track so unnecessary risks should be avoided. They were unfortunate but it's their own fault.

I'll never understand this mentality of waiting until near the end of a session to set a laptime. Heidfeld did this in Q2 in China. There was a red flag with a few minutes left. He failed to set a good time and ended up starting 16th. The track doesn't 'rubber in' as well as it did with the Bridgestones so they don't have an advantage by being last.

Anyway, Hamilton has now been demoted to tenth for cutting the chicane and his fastest lap has been deleted. It will be ninth as it has been confirmed that Perez will not race.

Still here in Monaco and someone had just told me LH has been demoted! Am seriously wanting to go straight to the FIA. I don't think they would listen to me though

It's gonna be tense tomorrow!

Yes he has been. Apparently jumped a chicane ion his last qualifying lap.

I'm going to be watching the opening lap tomorrow through my fingers. It's going to be an interesting first lap, that's for sure.

I'm pretty sure that his flying lap was the one Perez had his crash on. When quali was red flagged he didn't have any time on the board so he didn't cross the line after his out lap.

It kind of renders Massa's indiscretion moot but I'm sure t just adds up in the culmination of annoying circumstances for Lewis. Is a real shame would have loved to see him take it to red bull. Hopefully Button can do something.

RE: the crash. After Rosberg's crash they asked whiting to remove the black and yellow humps on that chicane run off and if they had been there for Perez's crash he might have been airborne before he hit the tech pro barriers. Quite worrying stuff.

Not surprised Hamiltion had his "fastest lap" removed.

After he went over the chicane at the end of the tunnel he backed right off, got off the racing line and allowed Alonso(?) to pass him.
It was blatantly obviously that he knew he'd screwed up but then, perhaps, somebody got on the radio and told him to finish the lap.

It says a lot about his pace in the first half of the lap that he could let Alonso through, trundle around and STILL set a time that was only 2 seconds off pole though.

I predict that there'll be bits of broken McLaren all over the landscape before bed tomorrow.

Kinda interesting that Massa was on a lap, Ferrari pitted him, did a race-style tyre change in the pit lane and then got him out again just as Hamilton started his fastest lap.
It was almost as if they were deliberately trying to get him back on the circuit in front of Hamilton. Hmmm.

After the red-flag, I bet Vettel and, particularly, Schumacher were thinking "Hmmm, if I go out and 'accidentally' have a bump at Rascasse it'll secure my position".

In fact, hasn't Schumacher already been bollocked for doing exactly that at Monaco before?

This BBC coverage just gets worse. What was all that about with the sh&tty graphics and that young feller shouting?

Buttons got problems and the race hasn't even started

Schumacher hit the back of Hamilton's car on the first corner of the first lap. Schumacher is missing a bit of the front wing. Hamilton was on the radio thinking he has a slow tyre puncture, but is still going.

Hamilton waving his hand at Schumacher ...... as if Michael is merely going to move over and not try to defend his position. Bit of arrogance from Hamilton there.

Possibly the best Monaco F1 race I've seen in a very long time! Just wish Lewis could have been further up in the equation to really mix it up some more.

Hamilton is such a whinger........

'He came in on me on purpose' ...... awww didums. That and his radio message that Schumey hit him on the first lap, he's always got to put the blame on someone else, then go running to his team to tell them.

So Button and Vettel have both got one more stop to do, yes?

Well what else was Massa to do, drive into the wall and wait for Hamilton to pass him!?!?!?

He really needs to realise he's not as great as he thinks, and does not command the track. 1 World Championship does not make you God!

It's funny how people try to reduce these sort of thing to school yard drama.

He did it just to hopefully avoid a penalty. F1 isn't a gentleman's sport they all bitch and whine just to get a decision in their favour. Remember Fernando going apocalyptic when Lewis had his safety car incident and ended up in front even after his drive through?

He went running to his team on the first lap too .......

'Schumacher hit me, I may have a puncture right rear'. that one wasn't for the officials, just little Lewis having a whinge.

He could have just mentioned the puncture anguish, no that so and so hit him!

Oh please, he wants the team to know there might be an issue, you really think these guys get strategic wins by withholding info from their teams.

That's unbelievably petty to assume he is whining.
