Cat with one eye half closed
Iggy's Boy
08-11-2010
Hi there.

Just noticed my cat has got one of her eyes sort-of half closed. I wiped it with a damp tissue just in case there was a build up of mucus or something but doesn't seem to be much there.

Anyone come across this? Any ideas?

I'll see what its like in the morning.

Any help appreciated!

Cats have more than one eyelid. I would take her to the vets for some steroids.

If the cat is an adult and otherwise well, I would - if it were my cat - bath the eye in cold tea or salt water three or four times a day for 24 hours. If no improvement I would see a vet.

I will point out that I am not medically qualified in any way so you may want to seek a qualified veterinary opinion.

A totaly agree with stress monkey. Is your cats eye red in the corner towards the nose. I would like stress says take your cat too the vets if he doesnt improve after 24hrs

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it.

It seems to be fine this morning, so I think she was just giving me a fright. I'll monitor it and see...
