I know all of that and I could understand it more if the ground was full but it was very far from that.

I read before they expected 30,000 people but at least 3 of the main stands were empty. Looked shite on tv
I thought it was about 15,000...a lot of it was down to logistics and getting the ground ready for the fight, they only had from the Thursday, due to other events that happen at Goodison, also they have to take into consideration that the position of the stadium is in a residential area, so traffic has to be accounted for as well. The ring was positioned towards one end of the stadium which was going to be opened up, I believe that was the plan all long with the short notice given.

As a Scot, id just like to say a massive well done to Ricky Burns on becoming Scotland's first ever 3 weight world champ.
Outstanding and also won in emphatic style.

Ticket sales were good. Up until Friday they confirmed more than 15000 were sold. Originally 12000 were put on sale but they increased capacity after they went quickly.

Looks like 'Bellow' has now started on Haye!

This is all we need!

Next thing we know, Mr Haye is going to be saying that due to public demand, Haye Day IV will he against Tony Bellew!

Oh dear.

Haye will want any fight where he sees little risk.

Bellew won't happen though as no way Haye can get back down to cruiserweight

Perhaps Haye will gain permission to dig up the skeleton of Sonny Liston for his next opponent - some sort of mechanism can be used to propel his remains toward David in the ring.

Apparently bellew will fight haye at heavy. I think that would be a mistake because he got beat in 6 against stevenson at light heavy so what makes him think going up to heavy will be any better. He should stay at his natural weight.

So professional boxers will be allowed to compete in the Olympics, for those more in the know then myself, is that a good thing or not?

Well they have to qualify first and must be a bit of a smack in the teeth for the amateur guys who work so hard to get into the Olympics...

Personally for me it's a no...Olympics should be for amateurs, it's not just boxing at the Olympics either, other events as well.

Cruserweight is bigger than Light Heavy.

Bad news about Ali being on life support. Doesn't look good but I hope he makes it.

It's quite fitting that Muhammad has passed in 2016, as this year, so many great & famous people have passed away.

2016 has now claimed the greatest of the all.

RIP Champ.

The greatest boxer of all time and imo the greatest sportsman of all time. Ali wasn't just a boxer, his talents transcended the ring as this eloquent man fought for conscience, justice and equality for all races.

During his lifetime and despite his success, in his home country he was judged not on talent but on skin colour ... and yet despite an enforced absence from the ring he refused to compromise his beliefs i.e. every man whatever colour, whatever religion is equal. Ali won't simply be remembered as a boxer but as a man whose philosophy inspired a generation and generations to come.

I doubt we will see his like again

The speed and footwork of a featherweight, power, ring intelligence, a chin of solid granite and sheer indomitable courage.

At the time authorities took away his licence to box in 1967 he was the finest heavyweight who has ever walked this planet.

Just think about this for a moment.

The four years that he was exiled would have been his peak - it is is arguably that we never saw the best of him so how remarkable that would come back to win the title in '74, especially from Foreman of all people - who was like a monstrous genetically engineered KO machine (the great Joe Frazier who had beaten Ali on a close points decision in 'The Fight of the Century a few years earlier was knocked down six times in two rounds by George).

The Greatest.

RIP.

Nuff said.

I suppose it had been likely for a while as he's been hospitalized a lot lately, but it's still crap news.

Others will be able to give more eloquent praise about his gifts as a boxer and gigantic media-personality than I can. But for me he was true warrior and hero. For his fights and activism obviously, but also for his dignified and courageous 32 year battle against Parkinsons.

So much more than just a boxer.

RIP

Tommy Hearns.

Always the gentleman in victory and (very rare) defeat.

http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/thom...1-years-later/

I still believe if Hearns had not broken his premier weapon in the first seconds of 'The War' that Marvin (a man with one of the very best chins in boxing history) would have been in deep, deep shit.
