Tommy Hearns.
Always the gentleman in victory and (very rare) defeat. http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/thom...1-years-later/ I still believe if Hearns had not broken his premier weapon in the first seconds of 'The War' that Marvin (a man with one of the very best chins in boxing history) would have been in deep, deep shit. ![]() There can't be a boxing fan alive that doesn't like Hearns. A real warrior who would fight the Devil on Satan's own terms if that was the way it had to be. Hearns made the fatal error of trying to blast out the titanium chinned Hagler: he should have boxed because Marvin was slowing down in 1985 & was not quite as quick as he was previously. I still think Marvellous would have pressured the Hitman into defeat later on, but it wouldn't have been the 3 round destruction that it turned out to be.

It's an interesting question.

So who's looking forward to the weekends boxing? The undercards look better than main event. Lot of usual big talk from breazeale so no doubt he'll last about as long as Martin.

I'm more looking forward to Thurman V Porter.
That is a genuine superfight between two top welters, in a division that is currently stacked with talent. I'm going with Thurman on points, but he's going to have his work cut out with Porter who is a high class welterweight himself. |

Every single fight apart from Groves/Murray is a mismatch (even still I think Groves wins by KO). Very poor undercard considering Breazle won't have cost much. I will watch In hope there's a shock but I won't hold my breath. #Mismatchroom

Even after Eubank gets more ring experience, i still think that's one fight too far for him. Huge credit to him though,as most boxers are avoiding GGG like the plague but Eubank is prepared to face him. |

I'm not on the AJ hype train as much as everyone else. He's a fantastic talent, but he's not quite in the "A" category for me just yet.
I think as soon has he is in there with a good mover, fast hands and hard punches, while they also duck and dive his fairly predictable shots - he'll struggle. Think Fury would find it fairly comfortable. Haye, Ortiz and Wilder will try to hit him hard and are just as fast. |

I didn't see the Eubank fight but is Eubank calling GGG out or what's the deal?
Without knowing what's happening it's my opinion Eubank is just showing off like his Da in front of the camera, but the reality is Eubank wants nothing to do with GGG because he would know the end result in advance. |

Saturday 25th June boxing
Well done Joshua, although I still think that when he comes up against a fighter who isn't fleshy, and who actually tries to move out of the way of punches, he will get knocked out. I can see him getting beaten 2 or 3 times in his career if he comes up against decent opposition. The quality of his last two opponents has been poor, and Dillian Whyte is the best he's faced so far, and the only fighter who has tried to take the fight to him. I still see too much Frank Bruno in him, although he's better than Bruno, no doubt about that. When Joshua gets tagged by a fit, up for it opponent, we'll see how good he is.
Eubank jnr against GGG? Crazy. To massage his already huge ego, he has stepped down to fight decent national level opponents and beaten them easily. Stepping back up to the cream of world level, he is going to get a nasty shock, and GGG will destroy him. You do what Carl Froch did when he was preparing for the best, you fight other world class fighters, not domestic level opponents. Before getting beaten by Saunders, Eubank snr claimed his son was better than Mayweather. Haven't they learned anything? Self belief is one thing, but deluded nonsense is another. Too much ego, and not enough experience at world level. GGG by KO. |
