Gutted for Frankie. Saw him at work the other week drinking water and not eating, and said he has no interest at fighting at 140. Even then he looked quite broad I thought. Time to hang up the gloves.

Good win for Cunningham. Ogogo was all hype. Good night of Brummie boxing. Hope Yafai can win his world title.

So now Klitschko is saying he is injured and can not fight Joshua. This is why I get bored of boxing, so many fight that should happen never come about. Now we will just have to put up with Joshua fighting another nobody and David Haye will continue to fight pub fighters while claiming he is ready for a world title fight.

The fight was never actually "on". Just Eddie Hearn desperately trying to blackmail Wlad into it via the media.

Joshua versus another bum it is then. What did we really expect?

Most likely Price.

I like David Price as a person but his chin is made of more fragile glass than Amir Khan's! He would be knocked out in less than 2 minutes against Joshua.

If AJ was supposed to fight wlad next then the injury could be a blessing. It's a massive leap in class for him. The replacement though has to be someone of proven quality not the usual bum.

The hw belt is a farce at the mo. Joshua v Haye is the only fight to hold a little interest rather then them both seperately fighting bums (again).

Yeah I like Price as well, but you're right, it's the type of fight Joshua likes.

David Haye thinks it will be Eric Molina instead.

Price vs Audley would probably be about both of their levels.

2016 is the worst year for heavyweight boxing in over 30 years!

A year ago, I thought we were on the cusp of a new dawn, yet, less than a year later, the division has descended into a complete farce.

As if having Charles Martin as a so-called HW champion briefly; arguably the worst HW 'champion' in history wasn't bad enough, we've had Fury with all his problems, Klitschko inured yet again, Deontay Wilder sidelined & David Haye raiding cemeteries & ICU departments for his opponents & claiming he is serious about boxing!

OK, Anthony Joshua is providing a bit of relief, but he's still a novice & he's not a real HW champion.

Someone needs to shut down the HW division!

It hasn't been great.

Hearn has had a nightmare. He's had 6 months to plan Joshua's next match, and here we are, nearly in November, and still there isn't an opponent. They're scraping the barrell with Molina and Price.

I'm wondering whether this will even be on Box Office, you must be a mug to pay for it.

So looks like the big fight at Heavyweight is back on for some time in 2017:-

Eurosport : WBA agrees to sanction Joshua v Klitschko showdown in 2017 - http://www.eurosport.co.uk/boxing/wb...37/story.shtml

Also what do people make of Katie Taylor going professional? She will certainly have the fans behind here, but is there that much competition out there for her to do well (not being a huge knowledgeable boxing fan, I don't know)??

Interested to see womens boxing grow. Surprised Nicola Adams hasn't turned pro at some point.

One would imagine the pro ranks are easier than the amateur with the lack of competition in the pros.

The Joshua card is laughable. PPV for Molina? A joke, surely?

It's a trough, that's for sure. But if Joshua, Briggs, Haye can all win their next fights and if Wilder and Kitchlko can stay fit, 2017 should be much much better.

Honestly, I think she and (and every other feamle boxer that wants to make a decent living) would be better off taking ju-jitsu and kick-boxing lessons and go into MMA.

The fight between White and Chisora is more of a draw than the main event.

2017, you'd hope, will be better than this year.

Potentially we'll have; Joshua vs Klitschko, Wilder vs Povetkin/Whyte or Chisora, Browne vs Haye, Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury, Luis Ortiz and Pulev buzzing around and the return of Tyson.

I didn't see the fight but I am happy for him. Got annoyed when I read he's talking of a re-match with Mayweather though. No way should the paying public be conned by over-hyped nonsense like that again.

I'm in two minds about Pacquiao.

He's clearly still a top fighter, but he isn't at his best anymore & I question why he is fighting if he isn't going after the big opponents.

His workrate has dimished; het gets hit too much & his power (something that a fighter loses last) seems to have deserted him as he hasn't scored a KO in seven years.

I get the impression that he's angling for a Mayweather rematch & I hope to goodness that they don't foist that on us again.

Their fight was D U L L boring & six years too late & there's no way they could try & sell that nonsense again.

Jason Sosa vs Stephen Smith was a cracking fight this weekend... Sosa looked very good and could be a big name in the super feather weight division... Malik Scott was an embarrassment against the Cuban heavyweight (forgotten his name) that Eddie hearn has just signed.

So Ward got the win. I didn't think that it was as controversial a decision as the crowd and many of the US commentators, who had Kovalev well up. He was too slick for Kovalev in the latter rounds.

My only complaint is Adam Smith as a commentator. Just talks and talks over and around what is actually going on in the ring.

Ward fight was very close but I had him winning it unlike the previous fight in which the result was to say wrong would be an understatement, although Pauline called it.

Yep, the previous fight was a traversty.

I've watched it 3 times now & it is indeed a very close fight, but I still think Ward edged it.

Neither fighter was truly decisive, but I think Ward was cuter & worked Kovalev's body well to slow the champ down & sap his power.

The fight definitely warrants a rematch, but I can't see anything other than an extremely close fight again.

They're both top fighters in their primes with contrasting styles: they will always have close fights, unless one of them deteriorates suddenly.
