Barker did a really good job.
The BBC article on the fight though is absolutely appalling. |

Sadly, Cleverly, is another example of all that's wrong with modern day Boxing.
An OK, British/Euro level fighter parading as a 'world champ' due to the farce of all the alphabet belts that are around. The fact that i didn't even know this fight was taking place tonight, shows how far Boxing has declined. This is just further proof of why having multiple world titles has not only ruined boxing, but has actually made the sport more dangerous. When you have domestic grade fighters swanning around as so-called 'world champions' then going up against real world class opponents, you run the risk of boxers getting injured because they haven't learned their trade properly. |

Just watched the Clev fight, what the hell was the ref doing? He should have stopped the fight at the end of the 3rd, instead he carried Clev to the corner!!!

when I first saw Celverly I knew he was a hype job and wanted him to be exposed ever since. It happened as soon as he stepped up in class...

Cleverly has come out with some brutally honest comments about his defeat.
No excuses, and thinking about retiring. He said he knew he was in trouble and would be stopped the moment he started to feel the weight of the punches that were hitting his shoulder or even being blocked. If he's mentally accepting he can't take shots from heavy hitters, then i think it would be best for him to retire. I think Cleverly's attitude underlines just what a big, fighting heart Amir Khan has. Vunerable around the chops, but he'd step into a ring with King Kong, and believe he could win. |

Kovalev looked fantastic. No matter how fast or fit or skillful a boxer is, when he comes up against mighty power there will be only one winner. That's why I think Matthysse will dispose easily of Danny and will then hopefully be pitted against Mayweather. I really believe Matthysse has a genuine chance against him
Golovkin is another who has insane power and I don't think anyone can beat him at the moment |

I'd take a really talented, clever boxer with speed and a good chin, everyday of the week over someone who' mainly just a heavy banger. From Ali, Ray Leonard up to Hollyfield, they have all dealt easily with so-called murderous punchers. As for Mayweather losing? Well, he's 35 now, and like everyone before him, no matter how great you've been sooner or later you'll get beat if you keep fighting on and on. |

The likes of Kovalev, GGG and Matthyse are freaks in terms of power. Getting battered by them is not shameful. Clev knows that no one else in LHW has that sort of power that he faced. He can come back and learn from his mistakes, and stay well clear from Kovalev for the time being. If I was Clev I would have a couple of fights to regain some confidence and then take on Dawson, another with a broken soul. Quote:

It's been reported across the internet that former Heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison is close to death, from suspected AIDS virus.

All been very mysterious with Morrison. It went so long without hearing anything about him that people were speculating that he'd already died and it was being kept quiet as some sort of scam.
He was good to watch back in the day; pretty much the textbook definition of a chinny banger. And there's never been a better left hook than his. |

Didn't know about that, thanks for the link.
My man Mares got KOd in 1 round last night, I think Rigo would eat him for breakfast and still have enough room to put another slapping on Donaire. But Santa Cruz looked good. I think he's abit of a punk, but he seems to be a rising star in the ring. |

David Price has left his manager and trainer Franny Smith. His contract with Frank Maloney runs out soon as well apparently.

Golovkin is another who has insane power and I don't think anyone can beat him at the moment Watch Muhammad Ali -v- George Foreman; Mike McCallum -v- Julian Jackson; Michael Watson -v- Nigel Benn to name but 3. There are many other examples of where the 'chin' beats the 'puncher' using guile, or speed & tactics to smash big punching brutes. A mighty puncher will always come up against an opponent who will not fall when they are tagged; who is not afraid of them & who will hit them back, fast & often (as Mike Tyson found out against Evander Holyfield). When this happens, then we will get to know how good the big punching fighter truly is. |

Only 44! Such a shame. Horrible disease. The division was really competitive in those days. I think if he'd been around today he may have won a title. RIP. |

Just saw that.

We've known it was going to happen for years, but it doesn't make it any less saddening or shocking to learn that he has finally lost his battle. A very entertaining fighter and not a bad actor either by all accounts. |

Wonder how Michelle McManus got in the ring. Through the ropes or over them?
