Groves was winning the fight in most peoples minds all over the internet at round 9. One decent round from Froch does not mean you can say he would have stopped him, especially not if you can't acknowledge Groves would have steamed right over to Froch in round one and finished him when the silly ref said box, had it not been 18 seconds left.
Groves class before the fight, class after trying to shake hands. Carl Froch making big love to the ref but wasn't saying the same after a previous fight when he went to Denmark was he!!!
Groves was punching back in what was a brawl at that point, holding yes but punching back and pushing away. Then the ref grabbed him. At no point did he look hurt like Carl during the fight or have his head bouncing around like those two round 1 shots.
Froch got leathered. Lucky, lucky boy.”
Why is it utter tosh, I said Froch may have knocked out Groves, I never once said Froch was not lucky to survive that first round, any longer and he may have gone no doubt about it and I DID SAY THAT. What I said was Knowing Carl Froch and seeing him fight I would have expected him to get up and get through it somehow....good boxers do this.
What i said was Groves looked like he had gassed out, (Like he always does).
I did say Groves was winning on points if you read any of my over posts, But in that 9th Round Groves took 6 unanswered punches, it looked to me like he had gassed out, He had started to let his defence slip and he was making small mistakes, If you do that against Froch he will bury you.
Froch just survived that first round with the skin of his teeth, But Groves has he proved in the second round is not a great finisher. otherwise he would never have let Froch back into the match and would have finished him off.
No one can deny Foch was there for the taking in round Two. Groves was not good enough to finish him.
Froch though we know through his past matches is lethal when he senses he can finish some one off.... Groves was hurt after those punches, and Froch sensed that....what I read on the internet and on many boxing forums is that Groves was winning yes, but if it had gone on any longer Froch would have knocked him out.
I could be right, You could be right, sadly we will never know as some ref jumped in too quickly and denied us all knowing.
