round 12 was the only decent round to watch. absolute boring fight but good performance from kovalev.
I was pretty enthralled by it tbh because I've never seen Hopkins dominated like that and never thought I would do.

Kovalev was extremely impressive.

He's shown that he is more than just a puncher.

Nobody has ever dominated Bernard Hopkins like that & although Bernard is fast closing in on 219 years old, he's still a world class 175lber.

I was unsure about how a Kovalev -v- Stephenson bout would pan out, but now I'm firmly in the Kovalev camp for the win, if that fight was ever to materialise.
Roy Jones beat Hopkins so easily it made Hopkins change his style of Boxing.

Well done to Channel 5 for giving us decent free-to-air boxing again.

Lets hope they stick with it.

A Golovkin fight FTA is awesome.

Not that I can think of no, Cotto beating a broken Martinez didn't really prove enough that he could handle Golovkin at MW.

Brilliant shot to finish it too. No one would have withstood that.

Changed my opinion on him too, none of the current HW will beat him. Think he will have 4 fights in America then call it a day.

Well done Channel 5. This on the back of their brave UFC committments, they are fast becoming the home of freewatch martial arts. Some of the boxing fight times, especially in the US, are too awkward for me anyway. But even when they aren't, I'm fed up of trying to watch on feeds that can blank out any second.

I happened upon this by chance, not being an avid boxing follower. The thought struck me, looking at the pair in the ring before the start, was how poor was the physical condition of the loser. Quite flabby, and I feared for him before it started.

He looked like he was pooing his pants didn't he? Sullivan actually said he looked nervous at the weigh in before. He also kissed him aswell haha

I watched on replay because of the comments on here. Fitz had all the confidence and poise of rabbit caught in headlights. O'Sullivan, meanwhile did the best Prince Naseem Hamed impression I've seen in a long while. Maybe he even gets to fight the winner of Eubank V Saunders on that showing? Wished I had seen the weigh-in. Guess that's where O'sullivan got inside his head. Mind you, the idiot that threw the stool at O'sullivan after the win had clearly lost his mind as well!

Imo it's a 60 / 40 Cleverly win. He won the first fight, although since then he has lost a big fight against Kovalev which probably shook his confidence a lot. Bellew wants revenge, but gets too emotional at times, and in a boxing ring that can lead to costly mistakes.

The crowd will make for a great atmosphere, but I don't think the Liverpool crowd will all be with Bellew, and there'll be some Cleverly supporters there. He's a likeable character and Bellew sometimes acts in a way that causes people to want to see him get beat.

One question mark is Cleverly's heart. Tony Bellew has no problems there, and against Kovalev, Cleverly went into his shell and then seemed to give up. Having said that Kovalev is an elite level fighter, and in a different class to Bellew.

When Joe Calzaghe (one time stable mate of Cleverly) got hit hard, he'd come back at you like an out of control windmill, as Duke McKenzie once put it, and he never lost a fight. Cleverly needs some of that grit to win this one.

It's a probable Cleverly win imo on points, but only just.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Bellew will win big; whether it's on points or by stoppage, I don't know, but I have a feeling it will be decisive.

With Nathan, I just get the feeling that he isn't 100% confident, whereas Bellew's ego has its own postcode & he has no shortage of confidence.

I'd like Nathan to win, but he just doesn't strike me as overly confident & that's not a good thing when you're a professional boxer: just ask Audley Harrison.

Interesting that Carl Froch mentioned Bellew hits a lot harder when he's at a heavier weight. What about Cleverly though? I'd safely assume that he hits a lot harder as well.

Bellew always looks a bit fleshy to me, and saying he was weaker at a lighter weight is probably the same for most fighters. Maybe the key will be which fighter can take a punch better.

This one is tough to call. Cleverely got properly banged up by Kovalev but I doubt Bellow (or anyone else he ever fights) will hit him as hard or as often. Meanwhile Bellow gave a better account of himself against Stevenson but was easier to hit. And both have looked fairly convincing since stepping up to cruiserweight. I still think Cleverely is technically beter than Bellow and I don't think home crowd advantage matters that much in boxing and didn't stop Cleverely in the first fight. It might even work against Bellow if he carries that over-emotion into the ring.

In summary then, I haven't got a boxing predicton right in about five fights (I said Kovalev would beat Hopkins but bet against it) so there's no reason I shouldn't keep that run going I'm going for a Cleverely win by late stoppage.

PS While I think Eddie Hearn is a bit of an arse, full credit to him for the card he's putting on tonight. A lot riding on the fights for favourites like AJ, Degale and Groves. Should be a great nights boxing regardless of the main event. I may not be around to watch later but would be grateful if someone could PM a good link on or around fight time. Ta.
