Yes, they are discussing at the moment.

CRH doesn't think she should resign from the show and people should vote for who they want, dance will win out.

According to Craig the producers had no idea before the start of the show that AW would be any less able than any other participant.
Apparently at the start of the show it's a level playing field.

I think they would have had an idea though not least because of her own self imposed restrictions.

They also stopped Kara from training straight away because she had prior dance experience, apparently.

I think they must know who is going to be good and who is going to be a good entertainer.

oh please bbc what a load of old bollox

so despite setting out in advance that she wouldn't do anything in dance she "wouldn't do in front of the pope" and being patanetly overweight and unfit, they had no idea of she would be any "less able" than any other contestant

you knew she would be a comedy turn and you've gone along with it and encouraged it - fairynuff, it's a ratings thing

but don't insult my intelligence by saying you had no diea she would be less able

I think that was very specifically because she did a SCD thing for Sport Relief with Ramps which she won. I think they did a samba

she was clearly very good there so I think they just might have known she'd be better than the widdenator

That's a bit condescending. Body shape can make something look better than it is and vice versa, but it doesnt dictate whether or not someone can dance.

As it happens, I have a rather hefty female friend who is absolute dynamite on the dancefloor. Literally, the best social dancer I have seen in the 100s of clubs I have frequented up and down this country.

Hmm...where did i say anything about body shape or size

I was expressing ironic laughter at the idea the producers could claim they have no "preconceived" notions of ability at the start.

Given three women in their sixties and three guys 20+ years younger...where would most money on "ability" be going

C.R-H suggested that they may have expected AW to have more ability since she comes from a generation when everybody ballroom danced.

A propos of nothing to do with the conversation - did anyone notice in that samba with Ramps, Kara did that thing with her head that she did on Saturday night? It's a move she can obviously do and is good at.

... and relevantly IS there a situation with AW? The Beeb knew what they were doing in the wake of Sargent-gate by asking her on so any "situation" strikes me as manufactured for publicity - and now Wright is discussing it. Oh yawn - set-up or what?

Hmmm.

That seems... difficult to believe, frankly.

Do you really believe that no-one in the Beeb production team thought Ann might be less able?

If so, then I think you should know that I'm a Nigerian exile with millions of dollars to give you - I just need a small upfront fee to get started.

And this is relevant because...?

Can someone ask CRH if he supports AW using SCD to further her political views and raise funds?

Does she?

I think its stretching it a bit far to say she is using SCD to further her, and fundraise for, her anti-abortion views! I think she was involved in this movement long before SCD.

Not too fond of the woman myself, but don't try to make out she is doing something she patently isn't.

Don't lots of "celebs" have political views and don't they use lots of things to put them across? The only difference is that she USED to be in politics not show biz/music.
I don't particularly agree with her political views, but don't think they really have anything to do with her being on the show - other than politics is what made her a "celeb".

In short:

"What's this about? Oh, I see that marvellous, funny Ann is supporting it, I love her on that dance programme, really sticks up for herself. It must be a good cause, I don't mind throwing some extra pennies in the pot."
