Songs on you ipod/mp3 player from a genre you're normally not into

There's a peculiar genre of music that you really don't like. I have one but going though my MP3 player play list I've realised I still have 3 tracks from the genre which I like.

Hate Urban/R/n/b music as a rule but I have these 3 on my player. The 3 exceptions to the rule.

Coolio - Gangster’s Paradise
Bone Thugs & Harmony - Tha Crossroads*
2 Pac/Dr Dre - California Love

What are your exceptions?

*It still really isn't my kind of thing but I attach a certain memory to it, so.

I also hate urban and RnB but I have Gangster's Paradise, I just like it.

I have a couple of early 90s dance tracks which remind me of my parents

I'm a heavy-metal and hard-rock fan, but I've got the Scissors Sisters first album!

Also Eminem - Stan, IMO one of the most clever songs of the decade.

For me i suppose it's Paramore. I don't hate that genre of music, it's just a rare genre you will see in my cd collection and music on ipod.

Recently I've been really getting into New Wave and Post Punk, so here's a few:

- Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays
- Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
- Echo and the Bunnymen - Killing Moon
- Adam and the Ants - Prince Charming
- Tears for Fears - Head Over Hills
- The Police - Message in a Bottle

Then some random songs which I really love but don't like anything else (or very little) from the act:

- Cher - Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves
- Alicia Keys - How Come You Don't Call Me (Prince cover)
- Alphabeat - Fascination
- Black Box Recorder - Andrew Ridgley
- Mark Ronson (etc) - Bang Bang Bang
- Madonna - Tar Of Light
- Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position
- Amy Winehouse - Back To Black

Same with me. I adore the song 'Ignorance'.

I love how everybody is naming hip hop songs. Hip hop takes up about 40% of my mp3 player! I love it!

Carmen, don't worry, I also have Fascination by Alphabeat! It's just so catchy!

Indeed it is

And I have no idea why I wrote "Tar of Light"! I meant Ray of Light.

I once found "I just haven't met you yet" by Michael Buble on my iphone. I nearly fell off my seat on the train, I still to this day do not know how, or why it is on there.

In terms of just plain odd genres I have

Forgiveness rock (Broken Social Scene)
Extreme Irony (Wallpaper)
pop electro woop (japayork)
Tech Funk (Yeah Yeah Yeah's???)

And my personal favourite ......

Halfway goin places (The Vaccines)

These as far as I know were all labeled as such by the artist in question or their labels.

For me it has to be hip-hop/ urban.

I like electro/ rock/ indie & folk normally but I have the odd R'n'B track- with a Taio Cruz album making up a sizeable proportion of that

I think he was single of the day on popjustice, and as such ended up on my ipod, where it has stayed since due to it being rather good.

Silly genre name though.

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die

I'm not going to lie, 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' introduced me to that.

Erm, I have every Marilyn Manson album pre Eat Me, Drink Me on my iPod. I don't like that kind of music at all, but I love the lyrics. Mechanical Animals is a very good album.
