In non-Freesat mode, channel 5102 is called T7 STRM-0 and looks like a news multi-screen option that you might get via the red button. But, back in Freesat mode, the BBC news channel has no such multi-screen option. Does anyone know what Non-Freesat mode channel 5102 is all about?

In non-freesat channel numbers are arbitary depending on the order you scanned. In freesat mode press the red button on a bbc channel (including the news channel) and choose page 3001 Sport Multiscreen

T7 STRM-0 is the video transmission of News multiscreen on the sky platform. Sky boxes will 'zoom' in on the required section of the screen and switch to the appropriate audio feed. If you wish to hear the audio for each topic then press the button on your remote that depicts a speaker icon and question mark. This will toggle through the feeds.

So Sky users get a different BBC news service to Freesat users?

No, Sky users get News multiscreen, freesat users don't. But the post above offers a workaround.

Thanks, I'll try that later. I'd been assuming you were referring to a Sky remote in your original reply...

It works - I can get the audio for all the news screens on T7 STRM-0. Thanks, Gaseous. But I stand by my original supposition ("So Sky users get a different BBC news service to Freesat users? ") - in normal Freesat mode there is no 'news multiscreen', just a sport multiscreen. Selecting 'news' (when in red-button mode) only gives a selection of text reports.

It'd be nice if the news multiscreen was properly available to Freesat users but ya can't have everything I suppose...

About a year ago, the BBC red button team said they would "work on it" once iPlayer was sorted...
but it was low priority (I don't see it being very complex though)
