If you're fine with random freezing, a dated Internet experience, laggy menus, small app store, an ugly GI and the worst typing/keyboard experience of any up-to-date smartphone, then buy one.
If it's the 12mpx camera you like the sound of, then why in nearly all the online tests I've seen is it equal to or worse than the iPhone 4's 5mpx?
Expect to pay more than the HTC Desire, which is actually a good device on par with the iPhone.”
Please don't troll, and please don't believe the rubbish spouted by Gizmodo or Engadget.
The only freezing on mine has been down to Opera (which also used to freeze S^1 devices) and the HyperX camera mods - once uninstalled I haven't had any device freezing. At all.
There are no laggy menus. The home screen "lags", but that was a rather strange design choice which will apparently go in the next update.
The UI looks as good as that on Android or IOS, and if you add on a suitable theme, then it can actually look better.
It only lacks a portrait qwerty keyboard, the landscape one is equal to that on either iOS or Android (and yes, I've owned/used both).
And as for the camera .... anyone who says that the iPhone 4 camera is better is an idiot. The camera in the N8 is leagues ahead of any other mobile, and quite a lot of dedicated cameras as well. The iPhone 4 literally produces rose-tinted images that aren't accurate to the real world - the N8 really is at the bleeding edge of mobile phone cameras.
None of the competition offer the same level of features - free sat nav (google maps does not compare), HDMI output (play NFS Shift on a 42" screen, using the phone as a controller), USB on the go (which is cool, I can connect up to my e-reader, a USB stick, or my DSLR to backup or mail images).
And I'd prefer to have a small app store than an app store that seems to have 95% of the content being rubbish.
