Here's a definition of the phrase "Elephant in the room" from the web:
"Elephant in the room" is an English idiom for an obvious truth that is being ignored or goes unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss.[1]

It is based on the idea that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook; thus, people in the room who pretend the elephant is not there have made a choice. They are choosing to concern themselves with tangential or small and irrelevant issues rather than deal with the looming big one.
END>
Never has a phrase or saying been more appropriate than this one is to what's happening on SCD.
The publicly funded Beeb should hang it's head in shame.

Ive been thinking this for a while... Great definition.

And I thought well pointed that the "subject of the elephant" was not discussed on ITT last night.

The BBC, desperate for improved ratings, thought it had revamped the show.

Um, it pooped. And elephant poo is truly mountainous. But maybe Kew Gardens was running short of stuff for compost.

I made a pact with myself last night that I was going to ignore the elephant in the room and carry on enjoying the other animals who are at least trying to look graceful .I am going to complety blank out the elephant and the keeper now and just get on with things .,

Absolutely , please join , I am sure we can make a pact that is joinable .Its the only way now I can continue to watch as I detest slaptick comedy and only if I tune out and distract my brain when the " elephant " dances can I enjoy the rest .
Thank God for the invention of remote controls and FF buttons , a complete godsend in times of need.

Just a pity the elephant is not at the start so we can get it done & dusted. Was quite convenient for refreshing my spritzer last week though

See, now THAT's a very sensible plan. It'll be out once the numbers are down and the non-elephant-enthusiasts will be able to relax again.

Is it possible to buy insurance from Lloyds of London against a certain person not leaving this Saturday?

Then lots more big round mountains of elephant poo.
Kew Gardens will be pleased.

Seriously, though, it's taken a lot of heat off Bruce, who was getting savaged as last year's discovered elephant.

Signing up - in chocolate ink on rice paper.

Don't we need a marching song, too? Like a British Tango?

Trouble is......the elephant might well triumph and next year the BBC will fill the programme with more of the same to get rating up We could have a veritable zoo!!

Chocolate ink on rice paper is GENIUS. We need a marching song...it is going to be "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini". No-one will EVER KNOW.

Yes , chocolate ink is fab , I will join in any song but love the thoughts of a march to that song , we could wear polka dot armbands and a big hat with Save Strictly on it .

No, you won't wriggle out of it that easily.
The armbands are for the men.

The bikinis are for us ladies (and David Walliams, of course).

The place for marching will of course be inside, around a heated swimming pool with an Italian buffet on the side and Turkish hammams nearby.
