Where to buy cheap nuts?
Please excuse the title, I couldn't think how else to word it lol
Anyway I've recently started exercising to improve my fitness and so am eating more foods full of protein. I know nuts are full of protein and would be great to snack on but whenever I look at them in shops (Holland & Barrett, supermarkets etc) bags of nuts are always expensive, even just a little bag! Does anyone know any places that sell nuts cheaper? Especially pistachios- i love them! Thanks |

I sympathise with the OP. I think a lot of Supermarkets have a big markup on nuts and seeds. I wanted to make my own pesto the other month and went looking for pine nuts. A 100g bag of pine nuts was £3.47 in Asda and £2.49 in Tesco. I thought that was a lot of money for 100g of nuts and ended up buying pre-made pesto.

With the benefit that, unlike picking wild fungi, you are unlikely to poison yourself - unless you harvest bitter almonds, I suppose!
I don't see many wild nut trees these days compared to my youth, but then I don't spend as many afternoons bunking off in the woods. |

Pretty much all the filberts will be gone, I ate most of the ones surrounding our company car park, and the squirrels got the rest.

I would recommend keeping an eye out at holland and barrett as they sometimes have really good offers on - I tend to pop in and stock up when I'm passing with whatevers on special.
