Can Anybody Name Me A New RnB Album That Has Not A Single Collaboration On It
Can't think of a single Rnb album that is in the region of a few years old and hasn't got a single collaboration on it, quite pathetic really.

It's not only RNB though... pop is also guilty of this.

The only one I can think of at the moment is Jason DeRulo's debut album.
But now he's famous I suppose he'll have a load of collaborations on his next album. |

Beverley Knight - Music City Soul. And it's proper RnB, not all this electro/dance/pop that's passing for RnB nowadays.

^ That song wasn't on the original album though, so it's fair enough of AdzBrown to name IASF.

In all honesty, R&B and hip hop has done this for years and years. The difference is now that it's usually done for nothing more than selling; it targets two groups. You notice that acts usually jump onto a bandwagon with another big act. I could easily think of loads from the past which have featuring acts; some of the best R&B albums have them, such as Crazy Sexy Cool, One In A Million and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Quote:

Lady Gaga?
However, there's nothing wrong with collaborations anywhere. I really just don't care, as long as the song sounds good. And I think that it's a bit unfair to single out urban music. The nature of those genres means that it's often impossible for a single artist to do the whole song themselves, if they want to create the best song possible. It often makes sense to ask a better singer to sing the chorus, rather than the rapper having to do it themselves. Yes, it might be a lot more expensive to do it that way, but most hip hop artists aren't selfish like that. |

Out of curiosity I checked the Top 20 R&B albums chart on the BBC Chart and with the exception of Plan B (who I wouldn't normally associate with R&B anyway), JLS (haha!), The Black Eyed Peas, Jason Derulo, and Beyonce... then every album had at least 1 track on it with someone featuring. I had to go as far as number 25 because there was 4 compilation albums in the chart and they don't really count. A few names keep popping up over and over again, such as Lil' Wayne and Nicki Mainj (sp?) |

Lady Gaga features on the single version of Video Phone, not the album version. Also, Kanye West features on the single version of Ego, but not the album version.
