Anyone got any decent band tips? I know it's a pretty bleak time for these genres of music in general, but it seems especially bad in the UK.

Preferably no older bands like Iron Maiden please. Not that I don't like them - it's just that I'm looking for stuff I haven't heard before.

There are plenty of new young rock bands around. Some off the top of my head, with a few non-British bands too....

Lethargy
Black Spiders
Orange Goblin - These are a bit older...
The Answerl - An Irish band who supported AC/DC on their last tour
Airbourne - A young Australian rock band
Audrey Horne - A brilliant Norwegian rock band
Black Stone Cherry - A brilliant American Rock band

I'll give my support to The Answer (very Led Zeppelin-esque), Airbourne (AC/DC style) and Black Stone Cherry.

Apart from that...

Bullet For My Valentine (Welsh heavy-metal)
Alestorm (Scottish Pirate Metal...)
Alter Bridge (American hard-rock)
Stone Gods (Ex members of The Darkness, hard-rock)
Volbeat (Danish heavy-metal)
