No, I copied the Wiki info, so the Jive is probably right.

I understand the rule to be no lifts at any stage. The start/end of the routine only applies to being out of hold in ballroom. I'm not sure why people now think lifts at the start/end are allowed

On ITT yesterday, Brendan certainly seemed to think couples had been allowed lifts in the paso.

The email from the BBC says -

Our rules in previous years were that in the Ballroom and Latin dances (the ten dances) one foot had to always be on the floor. This rule still applies this year.

So in theory, dances not in the 10 dances may have lifts e,g, the AT and AS where we have seen lifts lots of time and the double cartwheels done the Charleston by Tina & Jared and another couple I can't remember right now.

That wasn't the impression I got tbh, as he seemed to know that lifts were not allowed, but would be doing one anyway for the reasons I posted earlier.

Clearly the PTB are making it up on the hoof.

The carefully worded reply to Buddy seems to contradict a lot of what we have seen.

Most viewers have noticed and increase in real lifts (feet off the floor) breaking hold and general faffing about.
And now they are saying that the olny difference is a small increase in breaking hold allowed.!!
