HTC Desire constantly crashing

As the title says....Iv'e taken out my memory card in case that was causing issues. it's an 8 GB with 4GB availabilty on it. Iv done the usual switch on off etc etc. Iv'e removed the battery etc. Iv'e also removed the SIM card and inserted again but all the issues remain. Would a factory reset resolve the issue? Would I lose all apps if I did this? If so is there a way to save variations of windows or would I need to start again? Thanks in advance. Anyone else having these issues?

Have you downloaded any apps around the time it started to crash?

Some can be due to it being less restrictive in comparison to the iOS App Store.

They can be dodgy but also there's that many differences between different versions of android ie 2.1 on a HTC phone will have a different appearance, different built in apps and will be built slightly different to say a Samsung phone, which can cause some compatability issues plus on top of that you have the service providers adding their junk which can cause a few app problems, not all are compatible with every phone I've found, some I've tried have just eaten up my memory running in the background and constantly sent my phone rebooting.

Your apps are linked to your Google account (if paid for), so you can't lose those. Not sure if the market remembers your free apps based on the phone's id.
If you use app brain, that keeps a record of all your apps, so it would be easy to resync.

Titanium backup is good for backing up your apps and sms backup+ if you want to save them if your trying a restore, it automatically stores them in a new folder in your gmail account
