seriously the winning team's advert was offfensive in so many ways! Surely if you want your product to look different and jump out at consumers it shouldn't be pastel and blend in with every other product on the shelf! Really dislike and disagree with the decision made this evening.

They were both utterly terrible. But Alex's team had that dreadful black and red design that looks like something that "Danger" should be written over so I think the right team won.

I'm not sure if the wrong team won but I do think Alex's team would lose regardless because it's obvious that Lord Sugar wants to get rid of Alex/Sandeesh/Laura and possibly Stuart as soon as possible.

yes i admit when i first saw the bottle it was horrific and without a doubt did not look right but i thought the ad as a concept was humorous and would of worked well, i just would of changed the germanator child for a yummy mummy germator, would of been more apt and surely anything would of been better than imagining an octopus in your kitchen giving you a sly wink!

It was more about choosing the best of two very bad campaigns.

I think tonight showed Christopher isn't all that brilliant after all. I found him very sleazy.

Both teams did poorly in my opinion, but Alex's product was especially bad - it looked more like a bottle of car wash or engine oil than a kitchen or bathroom product (Sugar was right there). The moment I saw that, I instantly had the feeling that Alex's team would lose. But a very unimpressive performance overall from both teams, I'm afraid.

One side had an appallingly designed bottle, the other had an appalling TV advert. Perhaps they should have both been declared losers and both PMs sacked.

Yeah, I've always wondered if Sugar will ever do that. I was hoping he'd do it last year in the brick-a-brack task, where both teams made a loss and performed as badly as they did tonight.

Sugar seems to think bottle colour mattered most and then said it didn't.

The octopus ad made no sense, didn't link octopus to cleaning, didn't explain why it was better and was sexist and dated and terribly acted.

Sugar claimed that, in germanator land, the link between germs and dirt wasn't clearly laid out (though its implicit) and he mentioned the small child armed with bleach issue but didn't major on it.

The link between germs and dirt is infinitely stronger than that between kitchen surfaces and octopusses, the colour issue needs to be weighed against the terrible concept and terrible ad for the other team.

I don't think the choice falls the way he made it .

They were both very bad campaigns, but I think Alex's team just clinched 'worst campaign'... not only was the bottle awful, but so was the advert... what kind of child talks about ecoli, anti bacteria and a general cleaning product in such an enthusiastic way? and it said 'keep away from children' so the whole thing was such a contradiction... and it was meant to get rid of germs, not be a stain remover. An utter fail.

Christopher's team were very lucky though... the advert was absolutely appalling, so sleazy... but at least the bottle looked like a cleaning product!

I thought the wrong team won too.

The octopus thing was completely daft.

I found the Germinator ad funny but it wouldn`t sell the product. The name & the packaging were so wrong. Alex shouldn`t have let Chris bully him into accepting the name. Why did it have a woman with sunglasses on the label, they seemed to think we`d mistake her for a child.

OctiKleen - appaling advert, I really can`t understand any of the women on the team agreeing to it. I was disappointed by Stella`s opening suggestion `cleaning makes you happy`. I loathe housework. The product packaging looked right but I hate orange but I suppose that colour would stand out.
The right team `won` but it was close but they got it on only on packaging.

Neither team deserved a treat this week.

i thought there were two sorts of adverts

the refined, arty advert, and nobody remembers the product

and the "two tarts in the kitchen", I think they call it - the hit'em and hit'em again, Cillit Bang, type that Alan Sugar seems to like, and which made Amstrad such a respected brand

The truth is, LS can pick whoever he wants to fire, and justify it. And he does.

That's how nasty bosses work - whatever you say, you can't win.

I think both adverts were poor, and both teams made some very bad decisions.

I don't think either of them hit their target market, either. No woman would ever buy Oktokleen on the strength of the ad, whereas I imagine some people might be struck by the Germ-o-nator. Especially were it not an overnight job. They had to churn out an advert in a couple of hours, and while obviously it was peppered with flaws, it formed a sort of cogent message, and came together as a vaguely coherent brand.

Meanwhile, Oktokleen targetted itself at women, and then proceeded to demean them in every way. It was just an excuse for Christopher to be creepy. Neither of them worked out, but Oktokleen was pedestrian and shite. Germ-o-nator was something a wee bit different and shite. Do agree that Oktokleen had the better bottle, but I think as far as the brands went, Germ-o-nator's was vaguely endearing, as opposed to a sort of bizarre misogenistic sludge.

Kinda think Lord Sugar just wanted to weed out some of the candidates he saw as less capable. Frankly it was a narrow game at best - something like a 55:45 ratio - and he did say "at least one of you will be fired" before he dismissed the team - he had a double firing in his eyes. I think he saw Alex and Laura making a lot of mistakes and decided he wanted them gone.

The Octi Kleen advert had a couple of seconds when it actually showed what the product did by showing clean multi-surfaces, which is the only way that that dreadful and appalling campaign could have won. For a couple of seconds amongst the dreadful sexist rubbish it actually sold the product, though I would hope that every woman would have been throwing something at their TV screens if a campaign like that went out.

Yeah, I think that while Germ-O-Nator sailed well over the heads of its target market, Octikleen actually spat in their faces.

The two got their vowels mixed up - it should have been Germinator and Octokleen, not Germ-O-Nator and Octikleen. Surprisingly, that was what irritated me most tonight.

I agree with that and I hate the way he hardly ever looks anybody in the eye when he talks to them, making him decidely shifty and therefore untrustworthy. I thought he was ok up until tonight but there's something really irritating about his face and his mannerisms.

I really think that the Germ o nator idea was sound, but the ad, and the bottle colour were way off.

As to the Octikleen lot, their only saving grace it seems, is that they listened to the focus group....

Frankly, I couldnt decide who "won" that task, bur firing both PM's wouldnt have been out of order.

I think Alan should've told the PM's to bring back one candidate each and then the four of them battle it out.

That way, none of the teams would've gone away with a "win" - none of them deserved it - and Alan could've still fired someone in Alex's team seeing as he didn't/doesn't want to lose anyone in Christopher's team yet.

The octopus thing was daft, Getting the actor to dress up as an octopus destroyed the advert. I mean the whole, "having 8 arms to clean faster" is not meant to be shown literally. It should have been shown as a figure of speech. They should have had 8 different scenes with arms stretching out into each one with her in the middle as if to show she had 8 arms. Instead they did what they did and ruined it.

I think germonator should have won as I found it a far better advert and a good idea. I liked the bottle design too and didn't link it to car cleaning in any way. The person on the bottle did look like a 30 something woman however, not a small boy!

The other ad was terrible, a boring bottle design and who in their right mind states "I wish I was an octopus" like the woman at the start of their ad???

Considering that all my favourite candidates are in the team that won, I am mystified as to how they could possibly be happy with the product and ad campaign they produced. It had amateur written all over it. Appalingly bad!

I wish I were an octopus? and again!

I would have given the Germinators the win. Barely.
