As much as I loathe the woman, it's not Ann's fault she's advancing, and her fans are entitled to keep voting for their 'favourite' like everyone else.

The more hysterical the media, the judges and certain viewers become, the greater will be the backlash against them. Then there will be no shifting Ann at all!

I think there's lots to enjoy about this year, but like you, I'm not sure it's going to be the most memorable series once it's over for me.

Unless Ann wins, in which case it will be memorable for all the wrong reasons

Ann may well see off one of my other favourites, but thats the nature of an entertainment show, whoever gets the most viewer votes will quite rightly continue to shine, and Anns Star is High and Bright and looks like heading for the Final.

Why do you think Ann is seeing anyone off? The public must be voting for Ann in their hundreds. Do the ones who complain actually vote for their favourite?

I dont vote for anyone, I just enjoy the show, dont get in a stew about who is staying or going. I watch the dancing and make up my own mind about them and then run it past my dance teacher to see if I am on the right track.

As for Ann well she is just the comedy turn. For what it is worth I think ( and my dance treacher) that Ann and Anton need to come up with something new this week that resembles dancing, rather than the dragging Ann round on the floor otherwise the public will get bored with it.

I have to admit that I got it wrong about who I thought would go last weekend but I guessed that Jimi didnt have a very big fan base, not that well known really. I thought Michelle might go because I dont think she has a big fan base being from across the pond. The only one I really dislike is Gavin because of his personality , or lack of it.

DS is so negative and aggressive these days where everyone takes the shield of anonymity as an excuse to be so nasty.

It's not Ann that is 'seeing them off' it's the GBP who vote for her and Anton.

It's the nature of the show.

I have to say it was a pleasure to read your message and hear your opinions, if only there were more messages like this to read here, Your last sentence is pin point accurate in its assesment, I have said exactly the same thing, a little balance is not to much to ask for, I best not comment any further, but you are right in what you say and its a shame, and must put off a lot of new posters from visiting and staying here, perhaps that is the intention.

I think this is all fairly normal for the forum........the amount of bile being thrown at John and Kristina was just as bad.

I think we all ought to just accept that Ann's here to stay, however much people feel she doesn't deserve it. Just ignore the fact that others will be exiting before she does. She may well reach the final, and that would be a pity, in my view, but all it means is that we would have a final with only 2 proper dancers in it.

If she fails to get to the final, then her enduring presence isn't such a big deal, if you think about it - she just gets a "pass" through to the next round, just as if she was as totally separate side-show (like the show-dancers).

In other words, we can afford to have one "joke" couple - and no doubt many viewers find them entertaining - so the BBC will be, I'm sure, very pleased. And fair enough.

What I dislike is when better-than-average dancers get thrown out well before their time, and I think Jimi was an example of those.

The current points system (I keep calling it "scoring system", but "points system" might be more explanatory) certainly doesn't help this situation.

I think it's time to change the name of the show from SCD to 'Strictly Farce' which imo is what Nellie has turned it into.

See there you go taking life too seriously again. It is an entertainment show and as has been said already Ann and Anton have been entertainment. They are really a separate item on the programme the other couples are not really in competition with them.
When the public thinks they are getting tired of their antics they will stop voting.

One argument (and I don't necessarily agree with it) is that a couple like Anne & Anton serves a function in actually ensuring that the best dancers get to the final by outstaying the merely good or mediocre ones in the earlier rounds. This though condemns at least some potential contenders who could have improved enough to challenge the top few if they'd stayed.

I completely agree with you, it's all a bif of fluff to me. Without Strictly the run up to christmas wouldn't be the same. I'll do my silly quicksteps in the corridor, and I have a lovely drink while watching one of my favourite programmes. I always hope that some good people stay in (I want to see some good dancing). However, this year different people seem to entertain me at different times (actually all of them at one point or another).

I wouldn't want to spend an evening with Anne, and I don't rate her dancing, but as long as the public vote for her, she should be there. ... and I'm mighty pleased that it is down to the public again.

Completely agree with your sentiments. I know that Anne can't dance like the others, but it certainly makes me smile to see her and anton every week. I'm sure there will come a point when she'll go but it's the public keeping her there and all those who disgree should remember that Craig doesn't want her to quit. So the public will decide.

It's also a dancing show, and in the Charleston, Ann did about 8 steps. The rest was poncing and gurning (you expect some amount of that, but she's just taking the p!ss). Not entertaining for me.

I am curious to know the answer to question 2?
