is you're fired really just an excuse to humiliate the fired candidate? this week for example Ruby Wax seemed to delight in taking the piss out of Alex and to his credit he took it well. But not everyone would handle it as well as he did. And ok he could be annoying but he wasn't a bad guy really so why does he deserve to be ridiculed by Ruby 'look at me i'm so funny' Wax?
I agree completely, Ruby Wax used the entire event to ruthlessly mock a social inadequate. I think that Alex took it as he did, because he is used to being mocked.

I was imagining how I would have responded to the relentless undermining of my character and self-worth and I would have got quite aggressive, but then I believe I am not the social inadequate that Alex is and I probably wouldn't have been subjected to that treatment.

I believe Ruby behaved the way she did because, like all bullies, she knew she could get away with it when her victim was so weak in character.

Not that I'm setting out to defend Ruby particularly, but I cannot sympathise with anyone who puts themselves forward for short-term minor celebrity (cos that's all winning the Apprentice confers really) by going on a reality TV show such as this, not expecting that they are fair game for piss-taking. If you are not prepared for that, don't go on national TV making all sorts of absurd claims as to your abilities and then fail to deliver.

Hi Dilly Daydream and thanks for the welcome

Well, all of the series have been filmed around Autumn and then shown during Spring, but as you know this series was delayed. So I would guess it has been approximately a whole year for this series contestants.
Thanks for that Shaiya.

In that case, I can't believe the winner isn't leaked well in advance of the final.

You are assuming that only robust and self-aware people put themselves in the firing line, Alex is delusional, socially inept, and self-unaware and not really qualified to make decisions for himself.

It's so funny reading some of his claims after seeing the Germ-o-nator fiasco…

“Through knowledge, experience and insight, I work with clients to answer some of the most important questions that they face:

Choosing the right name for a product
The right positioning - i.e. how people view a product or service
The right look and feel
The right identity, personality and tone of voice
Telling the right story for a brand
And ensuring people know what makes a brand truly unique”

Then, if anyone is to blame, it is the programme makers, for allowing such people to be exposed to such situations. I imagine though that Alex would have been selected for his good entertainment potential. Ultimately, I suppose it must be our fault (the viewers) for watching such meaningless drivel, entertaining though it undoubtedly is.

I groaned when I saw Ruby wax on there as well. I don't find her funny, imo she's to wrapped up in herself and she again imo is in the same eague as Joan , her surname escapes me, but they are similar.

One poster is saying they don't know why Trevor Nelson is on there. Why not say that about the likes of Jane Moore?

Your Fired is no where near as good as when Adrian Chiles was presenting it and I doubt that anyone could have done as good a job as him, except for that ITV guy who presents their new dating show, paddy something but he would have been funny but different.

Joan Rivers?
Caustic. American.
I liked Ruby last night. I don't always.
Alex was risible. She wouldn't be doing her job if she didn't take the p!ss.

Because he applied to be on The Apprentice He knew the format and when they offered him the chance, he took it and bragged about how clever and talented he is.

Out of interest, when is You're Fired filmed - I must admit that I always thought that it was live, but clearly it isn't. Is it the day of broadcast?

Interesting... the emphasis, that is. But I do think that aspirants
to the role of "industry captain" need (at least!) to be "Wax Proof".

YF is filmed a day or so before transmission.

The two finalists work for LudAl for a period of time before the final is broadcast and he decides the winner. that's the reason it's not leaked

Just watching it, and felt Ruby was a bit harsh on him. Maybe she's lost her sense of humour.

Show might have had tones of nastiness, but Alex held his own and made it funny to watch. You're Fired isn't always funny, but Alex made it his own. well done Alex.

I'm surprised so many people feel that Alex got an especially hard time on You're Fired. It didn't seem any worse than usual to me.
