Tickets to a live show - please help
Salem's Mum
11-11-2010
Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I have just received tickets to the show 27/11. I have never been to the BBC studios before and am not sure what to expect.

I am currently pregnant, and don't want to travel all the way down and not get in! But as you can appreciate i also don't want to get there way too early!

What sort of time would you recommend arriving?? Also when i am queuing will they mind if i keep nipping off to the loo??

Thanks in advance!

Hi Salem's Mum. Unfortunately you will have to resign yourself to a fairly long wait if you want to be sure of getting in. I would recommend getting there about 12.00ish and they won't let you in until 3.30 and then you'll have to wait in the canteen for another hour but there are cloakrooms there where you can leave your coat etc. I should take a folding chair or stool with you to sit on in the queue - you can leave it in the cloakroom as well. There is a loo in the main BBC foyer which you can use while you're waiting in the queue - no-one will mind and they will save your place for you. There are also loos in Westfield - the big shopping centre opposite.

And take something to eat as well otherwise you'll be starving by the time they let you in. And be prepared to go through an airport type security scanner and have your mobile phone taken off you (it will be returned at the end of the evening). If you're driving down, you can park in the Westfield carpark. A bit pricey but the closest you'll get to the BBC.

Have a great time!

Hello there,

Firstly - congrats Salem's Mum on the baby and the tickets.

Secondly - can I just be cheeky and ask what time it says the "Studio doors open"/"Recording begins" on your tickets?
Sadly, no Strictly tickets for me, but I have tickets to another show; and I just wanted to gauge what time I should try to arrive in relation (bearing in mind Force Ten's estimates).
Finally, sorry to go off-topic, but I couldn't find any good information elsewhere online, and thus thought I'd turn to the good friends here on the board...

Thanks!

Hi - you will have a great time I was lucky enough to go to the live show on 9 October - it was brill - I sat just behind CRH and was on telly loads .

We arrived in the queue at approx 11:30 and our tickets were numbered 66/67. To be honest we could have got there a little later but as we were travelling from the East Midlands we wanted to be sure to get in, just like you! There is loads of good banter whilst queuing and there is no problem with nipping to the loo or across to Westfield for a bite of lunch. HOWEVER please ensure you are in the queue when the BBC staff start walking the queue to number your tickets, as if you are not there in person they WILL NOT give the person in the queue with you your sticker - this caused a lot of panic when we were there. As a guide I would say to ensure you are in the queue in person from approx 2:30.

Once into Television Centre you can go to the loo/get changed/spruce youself up and sit and wait to be called into the studio. They call you in in blocks relative to the sticker numbers so, in theory, the people who queue longest get better seats. To be honest - it's a lottery as to where you sit as they fill up from behind the judges first and then 'fill in the blanks' as the afternoon passes and the live show gets nearer!

If there is anything else I can help with/answer for you don't hesitate to ask - have a fantastic time and don't forget to come back and tell us all about it!!

Thank you!

The ticket says admission on site at 3.30pm, studio doors open at 4.30 and then recording at 5.30.

Hope this helps xx

Brilliant help! Thanks! I am so excited! I have been trying to get tickets for years! Good to know that people are ok with you nipping off for comfort breaks! Theres no way i could stand there for 3/4 hours solid!

Just got to figure out now how to be 'glamourous' now! LMAO!

It's only for Strictly that you have to queue for hours. For almost any other show you probably only need to allow about an hour and a half before they let you on the site. Unless it's a hugely popular show of course. I go to loads of shows at the BBC as I live close by and I normally allow about an hour to an hour and a half and I haven't been put on stand by yet!

Hehe, I did assume that Strictly would be a little more special than most shows. Though as I no longer reside in Londinium I would rather be on the safe side. Thanks for the help folks!
