She was never massive over here, was she?

I don't even know why I'm replying to this thread. All I know is that she has great legs, and that Party In The USA is a tuuuuuuuune.

She's a joke.

Her fame is built on the name.

Well she has a ready made Disney fan base over here and her show is still going on so I don't think she's "broken".

Yet she IS a great singer and performer. She's really got it going on IMO it's just a question of material and promotion.

She's seemingly trying to venture away from her Hannah Montana image... well, if her current stuff is anything to go by. Her last album peaked at number 8 and only sold 17,954 in the first week, whereas her last album went Platinum in the UK... which means it's sold at least 300,000. I guess her Hannah Montana fans are abandoning her.

By the way OP, I'm not sure if you sales stats are reflective of just the UK, because on Buzzjack they say the sales were:

Miley Cyrus - Can't be tamed 21,568 - I think It'd be rare for anyone to sell over 200,000 singles and only peaking at number 11 in the UK.

Miley Cyrus - Party In the Usa 23,454 - Echo the comment above.

I'm no music geek... I just got the info from this Buzzjack thread

Considering she does little promotion-if any- for her music in UK I dont' see any problem with her sales.

I think she done one UK performance for Can't Be Tamed didn't she? Where as The Clmib was from the Hannah Montana movie which did quite well.

I wish they'd let her concentrate on one thing at a time - there has been so many albums from her already (either as Hannah or herself) that sales are bound to be slow.

And if her Disney fanbase are looking up to the "grown up" girl she is now as a role model then I am very, very worried for them.
I understand her desire to grow up and move away from the Disney stuff, but when your fanbase is mainly under the age of 14 it's a very risky thing to do. Her latest music video especially ain't the best way to go about it.

She's had 7 Top 40 hits in Britain, so that's a decent track record though she has been unlucky that 3 of them made Number 11 (has anyone had more "elevenses" than her, one wonders?), plus she was part of the "Helping Haiti" congregation that got to Number One earlier this year.

The real test will come when "Hannah Montana" finishes next year, then we'll see whether or not she has a future.
