Sorry if there's been 120 threads of this nature already but I followed a link onto YouTube which lead me to another, then another

I started watching some of my old favourite dances from the competition and the group dances.

Couple of my favs that I've just watched; the professionals doing a tango/jive to a song from Chicago and also the Dirty Dancing tribute. There are a few more but I don't want to bombard my own post, LOL

Do you have favourite stand out performances?

Yes, Aleshas waltz. Just because they both lost themselves in the dance and that's what it's all about. Moves the audience too.

Yes, that was beautiful and I think the same about Brendan & Lisa's Waltz, also.

and for completely the wrong reason

Oh I've got loads and never tire of mentioning them. But the best of the best for me were:

1. Louisa & Vincent's Jive and Tango.

2. Rachel & Vincent's Tangos and Rumba

3. Ramps & Karen's Salsa

So dramatic and dark, I loved this dance - best from series 3.


Louisa's Jive would have been my absolute favourite, if not for that clunky drag section in the middle - stopped the momentum.

Jill's Jive is often listed as the best ever, but I much preferred Denise in that series. One of the very few to crack the Samba.

Aleshas and Mathews waltz , it was beautiful .

Rachel and Vincents Tango , I loved it .

Chris and Olas Charleston

These are my fave dances ever:
Aled and Lilia's Samba, Tango, Paso Doble and Xmas Samba
Gethin and Camilla's Waltz, Salsa, Jive, AS and AT
Austin and Erin's Jive, Tango, Paso Doble and Finale Jive

In terms of quality, Jill's Jive was probably better.

But Louisa & Vincent's routine was so unexpectedly good (I think they only rehearsed a couple of days beforehand) and they looked so cute and full of joy dancing together, that the dance has stayed always stayed with me. Loved their reaction to the 10 as well! I was sold on this pair from that moment on

Karen and Mark's AT - still the best dance by a celeb for me.
Vincent and Louisa's jive - just such joy bubbling over.
Flavia and Matt's waltz - probably not quite worth all those tens but a beautiful dance and so 'truthy'.
Camilla and Gethin's AS - just loved the music and choreography although he was still a bit stiff.
Erin and Austin's waltz and jive - amazing standard and personality so early on.


Oh and yes Lisa's showdance - still makes me laugh like a drain - and almost cry to think Austin went out so that the world could see that!

Some for entertainment value and some for quality of the dance

It's awfulness is unsurpassed.

I liked a lot of Gethin's later dances, because he had a spot of personality - but generally his ballroom was nice.

Alesha and Matt's waltz was gorgeous.

Liked Austin's paso at the time -doesn't stand up to much rewatching for me - but it really stood out 'in the moment'. Thought his jive was pretty good.

In terms of the pro dances, there's one paso which sticks in the memory. Matt Cutler's dance with Aliona last year was quite different from the norm, I recall, though I remember little about it.
