Why can no-one present properly?
This is annoying me so much I've signed up to make my first post here.
Even though Sandeesh only had to do a really short and simple presentation, she seemed to spend some of it staring down at her A4 sheet reading it word for word. This performance, however, was described as "very good". It seems that whoever is presenting, the range of skill on display ranges between hide-behind-the-couch cringeworthy to average. We all know these aren't "britain's best business minds" but you'd think people that are obsessed with business and getting to the top should be able to manage a simple short presentation where they can go without notes and engage the room effectively. My boss and I agreed today that if someone at our work presented like Sandeesh did they would be taken aside and given tips on how to improve, yet that performance got rewarded! She even had about half a day to prepare but still needed notes for 5 minute chat. Why can't any of these 'world class presenters' actually present? |

Good point Bigmatt. I presume most of the contestants attended Uni or college and on any course (especially business related) presentations are expected. When I was at Uni, I had to deliver presentations at least once a week, so by the time I graduated I was well versed and confident.
I just do not understand why they are so crap. |

Because they are young people and haven't been taught properly in decent schools. They are barely literate.
And I should know. I'm a teacher. |

Remember Mani from series 2, the 'professional world class presenter'? And who can forget Nargis..... ![]() And then when they DO deliver a decent pitch or presentation (often from a script someone else has written), they are praised sky high....
