Coupons???
How come we as a nation are not as coupon savvy as our counterparts in such countries as the USA?? You wouldnt beleive how much we could all save on our grocery bills if we used more coupons at the checkouts!!! I hardly see much coupons in flyers or in stores or even on items themselves as I used to do in the USA!! Our newspapers, both local and statewide, and magazines, were loaded with coupon flyers and when you enter grocery stores in the US there piles of flyers and coupon catalogues in the entrance-ways!!!
I know loads of Coupon Queens in the USA, who spend the best part of a day snipping out coupons from flyers, newspapers, magazines, etc. and in some incidences when they present all their coupons at the checkouts some have hardly spent anything for food and other groceries!!! Some real coupon-savvy people have literally saved thousands of dollars in a year due to coupons and special offers!! How come we havent adopted that way of shopping as much as the US have??? Just think what you could buy or save with all the thousands of pounds not spent on groceries???? ![]()

I've rarely seen coupons for money off things on the scale that you see them in America.
Occasionally the supermarket where I have a loyalty card sends me a few coupons for a few cents off something I'm highly unlikely to buy |

Yes, Tesco tightening up their policy was a huge blow to all us coupon collectors!
However they will still normally take other retailers' money off vouchers - e.g. £3 off if you spend £30. They sometimes advertise this - a couple of weeks ago there was a big banner outside my local Tesco saying they would accept Morrisons vouchers, so it is well worth looking out for these. |

I do internet surveys which earn me coupons and luncheon vouchers - should hear the tutting from the people behind me in the queue when I open my purse and bring out £75 in various vouchers

Eating out, days out, etc I use vouchers all the time.
For shopping, I find most supermarkets do the discounting (paid for by manufacture) rather then manufacture giving discount via coupons. |

I remember as a kid cutting out coupons with my mum for the shopping, but you are right - they really are a dying breed now. Its all loyalty cards now.
The only thing i use vouchers for now are eating out. My fav gastro pub does 'buy a main meal, get a meal for £1' vouchers. |
