Above link confirms that there will be 2 shows on the same weekend for the semi final, 1 on the Friday and 1 on the Saturday and each couple will do a dance on the Fri and Sat.

I suppose this will help to hopefully make sure that the right dancers get through to the final.

what so will someone be eliminated on the friday and another on the saturday seeing as its a 5 person semi

yep it's my understanding that it will be a double elimination so that we get a 3 person final.

The rules will only be changed if there are 4 people in the semi, in which case it will only be a 1 person elimination

so let's hope no-one gets injured

This year is different to others with the beeb giving 100% support to the minimal entertainment joke dance being publicised at every opportunity and the acceptance of minimal "entertainment gets my vote" being a fashion

No there are 9 couples left now and if you work it out, that means there will be 4 left for the semi and as confirmed in the article, ALL couples will dance both the Friday and the Saturday to then decide the 3 finalists !

This makes it more exciting I suppose

Semi final will be on the 10th and 11th December and there will be 5 couples left then so a double elmination which is what the BBC have planned so that if anyone has to leave we can have a single elimination and have a 3 person final

The 'anti-dance brigade' as you call them may not have a choice. If the judges are clever with their marking, then the public vote may not be able to save the worst dancers due to the double elimination.

Its very difficult for the person topping the public vote to come last on the combined vote - but a lot easier for them to come in the bottom 2 (and thus go home).
