Score the Judges
VintageWhine
12-11-2010
Hi folks - this should be a fun thread (I hope):

The idea is for everyone to give a score from 1 (worst) to 10 (best) to each of the SCD judges on the basis of:

1. Their scoring Realism (freedom from a tendency to consistently over/undermark).

2. Their scoring Consistency.

3. More controversial - their perceived Impartiality (freedom from having favourites and not-so favourites).

Do allow for the fact that some judges are biased towards performance, others technique, which is fair enough (one reason for having 4 judges).

Here's an example (with random scores!):

Craig: Realism: 3, Consistency: 5, Impartiality: 6
Len: Realism: 8, Consistency: 9, Impartiality: 10
Alesha: Realism: 6, Consistency: 3, Impartiality: 7
Bruno: Realism: 3, Consistency: 8, Impartiality: 4

Hopefully, there'll be a decent number of responders, and I'll tot up the results in a few days time.

As there is only four judges, shouldnt the scores be from 1 (worse) to 4 (best)?

Well, I could have done it that way, but you get a more meaningful result if you mark each of them as individuals, from 1 to 10.

When I said "1 (worst) to 10 (best)", I was just trying to make it clear that, the higher the score, the better the judge's performance. Anyway, that's what I meant...

Craig: Realism: 7, Consistency: 8, Impartiality: 8
Len: Realism: 4, Consistency: 6, Impartiality: 3
Alesha: Realism: 6, Consistency: 6, Impartiality: 5
Bruno: Realism: 5, Consistency: 5, Impartiality: 5

Len "always" favours the men especially in the Rumba which along with the constant over marking has dropped him way down in my estimation. He is only consistent in giving a particular couple the virtually same scores every week since week 2 regardless of what they do.
