3 Mobile 2G pay as you go phone stopped working
My Mums 3 mobile pay as you go phone has stopped working.
But I noticed there was a text from three saying "From 11th of November your 3g sim will no longer work in your 2g phone. For more info call 08003584855" She's pissed off becase there was about 10 quid in it.. Got to find her a new phone now... |

They are switching off 2G coverage in selected areas. Maybe there is a bit more to it. See this thread I posted last week:

Is it a 3 handset she's using or is it a 3 sim in an old phone?
Judging by the text it doesn't seem to be the 2g roaming switch off that's to blame. If it's an old handset, is it a 3G one? It's against 3's ts&cs to use a 3 sim in a 2G handset which is why they'll be stopping it. |

OP, Mum's sim card will work in another 3 phone.
I am with 3 and have the phone ram jam put up a link to. I bought it in June and it is cheap, but full of features, just use the ones that are wanted. I haven't anything bad to say about it and have enjoyed it. Just pop in Mum's existing sim card and off she goes, she hasn't lost the tenner, the credit is still there to use straight away ![]() By the way, I am a Mum too (rather elderly) .. it was my phone of choice, I don't need an full-on all singing and dancing one, maybe your Mum is the same? |
