Steve Brookstein, 1st ever X Factor winner, bringing out Christmas single!
Working with Streetsmart the homeless charity, and Together@Qristmas, Steve is bringing out a superb remake of the classic Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush hit, Don't Give Up on December 13th!
It's available by download only and uses the latest QR technology (hence the name QRistmas!) where people can access it via their smart phones. He duets with jazz artist wife Eileen Hunter, who was recently the first ever artist signed to Jazz FM's own record label. ALL profits go to regional homeless charities. You can have a listen and get more info here: http://www.qristmas.com/ |

Good for him
I've always felt sorry for Steve, as he was treated appallingly by Simon Cowell, because he wouldn't be his puppet![]() I hope loads of people get this single, as it's for a very worthy cause

Lovely song.
Say what you like about Steve, but he does have a beautiful warm tone to his voice. |

Steve fell out with Simon because he refused to record an album of covers, now here he is recording a cover...
I wish him and the charity well, though whether it'll get him back into the Top 40 is another question. |

I wish him and the charity well, though whether it'll get him back into the Top 40 is another question. The 2nd album came up, and it was the same again, another album of predictable soul covers, with Steve not being able to put his slant on them, so I agree- what was the point? He knew the public were tired of regurgitated obvious songs so who was more on the ball and in tune with the public- him or Simon? Don't Give Up is not an obvious song to cover, but has a poignant message bearing in mind both the charity it's helping and who's singing it. I think the arrangement is beautiful and the response the radio station got from playing it last Monday was superb, including one woman contacting them to say it had borught her to tears... in a good way!! I have to concur- think they've done a great job and love the idea of regional homeless charities benefiting from it, in addition to Steve and his wife Eileen given a platform to show what they can do.

Why is he even bothering? Honestly, when will he learn to just give up the desperate cracks and fame and get back to gigging in pubs and Butlins? No doubt hes reading this now...hiya Steve? Hope youre still sucking on those lemons...for comedy purposes obviously!

At least he has his hobbies. I can see this being massive on hospital radio right across Devon. Seriously, Steve/Amanda...give it up. Hes such a bore now and needs to admit defeat and get back to the real world instead of using digitalspy as a way to attempt to reignite his career...not that it was ever really on fire to begin with. Ah well, bless him.
If anyone else wants to give the single a try- please check it out at QRistmas.com cheers!

Great article on Steve's forthcoming Christmas single by Popsicle, thought it better to reuse the original thread rather than start a new one

After all the drama of Steve's fall from grace from x-factor, I think it was forgotten that he was actually a really good singer.

Well said both... and I think it's a travesty that Mr C's spin doctors still get the message across that Steve was dropped when in actual fact, it was he who said no to Simon Cowell, declining the offer of a 2nd album if it was going to be all covers, and it was that that cost him his contract.
