working at a metal production factory some years ago, where all the staff making nuts and bolts to a very high standard and these machinists are very well paid..
all have expensive cars, and gone on 2/3 holidays abroad every year. however one day as i came into the machine shop one lunchtime, everyone and i mean everyone was eating very cheap supermarket own cereals, or dirt cheap cup a soups, everything was basic buy... which explains their expensive lifestyles, and luxury holidays, and probably up to their eye balls in debt.. my mother always told me the more people EARN the more they go into debt. and it still stands today.. |

I've noticed the recipes/taste of some Kellogg's cereals seem to change over the years.
I used to like their Bran Flakes for example but a few years ago they changed to "All Bran Flakes" and taste awful

Lidl's own brand "Weetabix" are so much better in my opinion. However my Hubby will only eat the Weetabix brand.

I did used to enjoy Kellogs Corn Flakes, but I think they do rely heavily on containing rather more sugar and salt than is really healthy. I always thought other brands were poor in comparison but since I discovered Lidl's Luxury Fruit & Nut Muesli I've never eaten any other cereal. Quote:
Kelloggs lost me when they added more nuts than fruit.

I now have aldi granola cereal does for me.. not paying £4 for a small bag of kelloggs 500 g granola hardly anything in it. Aldi are only £1,50 for 1kg
Try other brands, lot of cases your just paying for the name and also food snobbery. |

I find supermarket own brands are just as good if not better on most things not just cereal. I switched to granola for breakfast when I worked out I had a lactose intolerance so had to use yogurt or orange juice on my cereal.
I've tried several different granola's Aldi's is the best followed by other supermarket own brands, branded versions are horrible they don't have nearly enough extra bits to make a tasty breakfast. |

I've yet to find a brand of cornflakes to equal Kelloggs myself, so I'd say yes they are worth it. However, when it comes to Sugar Puffs, Weetabix, Rice Krispies and Bran Flakes, I think own brands (especially Aldi's Harvest Morn range - except their cornflakes yuk) are often just as good, if not better e.g. in the case of wheat bisk type of thingies, as they don't go mushy half as quick as Weetabix, although I don't know whether that's actually by Kelloggs.
I love Kelloggs cornflakes with ice-cold milk, a light sprinkling of sugar and a spoonful of cream on top .........yummy! |

I haven't eaten commercially made breakfasts cereals since I watched a TV programme where they add the iron to the cereal so that they can say "with added iron". They actually add iron. Actual iron. Little bits of actual iron.
