Did you actually watch the show? Tess badgered them about not getting a 10, and they were clearly reluctant to talk about them.

He didn't ask for 10s, Tess asked him if he wanted a 10, and he could hardly ignore her question Neither of them care about getting a 10, they made that pretty clear - they'll work hard to get one because they're working hard at dancing, but if they don't get one they don't care!

So please stop blaming Matt & Aliona for something which is not their fault!

As for their dance, no, I don't think it was overmarked. I do think Scott was slightly overmarked though.

Yes, Matt & Aliona have come across as very competitive since practically the beginning and it's putting me off them

I don't see this at all, particularly in recent weeks. I thought Matt made a very pragmatic and wise comment when he said that "based on those comments, we're quite a bit off [getting 10s]" in response to Tess's direct question. I'm sensing from interviews, comments and the like that he now thinks he isn't going to win the Glitterball, so is just in it for as long as he can be.

I also don't see why being competitive is a negative attribute on what is fundamentally meant to be a competition...

It was a good mark for a male celeb rumba.”

I agree. I didn't enjoy their dance this week, and the way they seemed to be emotionally pleading for a 10 again was quite amazing.

Matt competitive? I totally disagree with that, I wish he would be more competitive.

I agree Aliona is competitive, she wants to win, so does Natalie. So what? That's what they are there for.

If anything I thought they were overmarked. It was no better than an 8 for me.

Can you please tell me what they actually said to 'plead emotionally' for a 10, because you've lost me on that one.

It's probably just me and I don't mean to offend but just my gut feeling when I see him on ITT, when he talks to Tess after his dances and the way he is in the VTs says to me that he's very competitive. It all very serious for him and that just puts me off slightly. But again, it's probably just me.

I'm not opposed to competitiveness late in the game, they all get that way and so they should but he came off as super competitive right off the bat and that just put me off him straightaway. Especially because it hasn't been backed up in his dancing so far. But really, I don't want to offend his fans. It's just the way he comes off to me.

You're right, I think it is you. He hasn't asked for a ten & just comes across as someone who enjoys dancing.

I think you're coming off as a very closed-minded Matt fan but then, it's probably just me

Praise is earned you don't ask for it.

Not sure why any offense would be taken by anyone, but I just don't agree with your opinion, sorry about that. He needs to be pushing himself more to stay a front-runner, and that just isn't happening at the moment. I think he did start out competitive and it was a 'job' for him, but something happened in the AT week which changed that. Perhaps he realised then that he wasn't going to win? I'm not sure, but it just seems to me that he's struggling a little at the moment, and if anything his competitive drive appears to have disappeared...

It is you, I'm not a Matt fan at all. I support Kara Tointon lol

I don't know why you're saying I'm closed minded, you admitted that it's probably just you (re Matt) & I was agreeing with your statement.

Maybe he's realised that he doesn't have the same talent for dance as Kara or Scott.

I'll amend then: I think there's no need to get snippy because I disagree with you. I made quite a few qualifications in my post so I didn't offend anyone who disagreed with me and you were snippy about it. Sorry if I pegged you wrong. Manners are important to me.

I don't think he is fishing for compliments either.

I think that's what he is genuinely thinking at the moment, and that's why he isn't improving week on week. I do think he is extremely naturally talented, but something just isn't developing there yet. I imagine it's lack of training time, but it may be something more mentally.

No problem. It's hard to convey emotion through an online message board & intent can be misconstrued. I really wasn't being snippy.

It shows how undiscerning viewers' opinions can be manipulated. "Careless talk costs lives"

Teeswolf, yes I did watch the show. I've watched every show. And every ITT and results show. Matt has quite clearly on the former, and the latter in the backstage just danced bits, gone on about getting 10s, in the latter called undermarking (can't remember what he said but along the lines of "Bruno's perfectly entitled to give us an 8"). It turns me off. Sorry but it does. Scott and Kara are streets ahead, and I find Pamela far more engaging to watch IMO. I do think Matt's a good dancer but I have issues to be polite. I respect your opinion, and am really pleased that you find him incredible to watch, it'd be boring if we all had the same opinion.

This was one of only 2 dances tonight that made me go wow! the other was Kara and both were undermarked.

A nightmare dance for male celebs...he did better than most...and was a little overmarked....but going towards the end that's inevitable when they've thrown too many marks too early on coughs...like at Gavin.
