Who would have loved to see an Alesha 6 next to a Bruno 9? I'd have laughed so hard they'd be running for cover in Russia.

He had more quickstep than Scott had jive (in hold) Def worth a nine. If Felicity is worth an eight well, there you go Love the guy, he has improved so much.

Very overmarked. He certainly wasn't better than Pamela or Patsy.

Couldn't agree more!

I am not keen on Gavin anyway, but he certainly didn't deserve that mark tonight!

He was definitely overmarked - marking his routine up there with Kara? Come on!

There's a lot of over (and under) marking going on this series, booooo!

Overmarked. It's not the first time the marking has looked corrupt this season

I agree, I've just watched it on iPlayer and I thought it was dreadful. Didn't like the choreography and didn't think much of the 'quickstep' - not when they kept breaking hold every 10 seconds for her to jokingly correct his frame. I'd have given it a 6 if I was feeling generous.

Actually I thought he was.

I don't think he was worth 9s but, he's definitely improving. I thought Pamela was heavy footed and as for Patsy's routine there was hardly any Viennese in that Waltz.

I have warmed to Gavin but agree he did not deserve more than a 7 although if Bruno had given a 10 it would have been hilarious!

Even OH noticed he forgot his steps halfway. This series is definitely fixed.

I wouldn't want to watch it again, frankly - once was enough for me. If Miss Widdecombe hadn't been there, I'd have scored it as the worst dance of the night. The choreography was clever because it disguised the inadequacies of his technique. Not, I hasten to add, that I'm any expert, but I know enough to know when a dancer makes big mistakes and has massive timing issues, too. So I agree, a 6 would have been generous.

I was gobsmacked by the judges' generosity, but I suppose it's all of a piece with the emphasis on entertainment over dance in this series. I am not a dance purist, and I don't have a problem with being entertained (!) but isn't the whole point of the audience vote that we judge how much we have been entertained? The judges are supposed to judge on technique and musicality, surely?

By all means vote for Gavbot if you are entertained and want him to dance again next week - that's fine by me - but for a judge to give that poor excuse of a quickstep the same mark as was given to Kara for that beautiful Argentine Tango is a travesty.

He's improved but from a low base. and I didn't see much quickstep there.

He was overmarked, not worth nine when he himself admitted he made mistakes in the routine. Eight would be generous, but then technically he danced QT better than his cha-cha, to be sure.

I think he was overmarked, but then I never understand the judges marking. I can only think that they have some kind of expection about different contestants and if that contestant is better, they go overboard with their marks.

However, I did give him a vote as well, because I enjoyed the routine regardless of the faffing about.

Scoring and comments are a bit erratic. I think judges may be trying to manipulate who goes/stays. If so, it's not working!
Oh well, there is a huge gap between the brilliant dancers and the rest. So long as Scott, Matt and Kara make the final, all will be fine by me!
In the meantime, I'm really enjoying Patsy and Gavin too. Michelle and Felicity are on borrowed time and Ann........I guess we'll just have to hope she goes before any of the top three.

Can anyone shed any light on the odd bit in the middle of Gavin's dance, where he appeared to stumble backwards with one leg in the air, and then proceeded to waste a few seconds trying to get back into the routine?

It looked like a major error to me (of the same ilk as Pamela's 'recovery' from her spin), but not one of the judges mentioned it. It didn't look like it was choreographed (or if it was, it was phenomenally clumsy).

Oops, missed Pamela. For me, she's of similar standad to Patsy, although judges would disagree.

He had as much QS as Patsy did VW. Seriously, what impressed me was when he did start to dance was how quick and nimble his footwork was! There was far too much stopping and starting for me but, he is improving and that's all we can ask of our "entertainers".

I am just watching this on iplayer. Isn't anyone talking about the kiss?! It was so random and completely pointless to the dance. I still don't understand why it was done. The only reason it was given 9's was because of that kiss. Btw did Bruno know about it before?

I actually feel sorry for Gavin a little, as the judges over-marking him are making him think he is better than he actually is.

Surely I can't be the only one to think Gavin is being over-marked?”

I agree gavins overmarking is silly, he should be going before all the girls.

I agree I mentioned this on another thread I don't understand what it was all about either, a gay friend of mine was particularly annnoyed about it because he says its not helpful to the gay community.

I am incredulous that this was not remarked on or allowed for in the voting.

That is the impression I'm getting - not that the result is fixed, but that the judges are balancing what they aniticipate to be the public vote (not that they made much effort with Ann this week).
