I agree 100% Jan. In particular with Patsy you could be forgiven for thinking she was just dancing a standard Waltz because there was very little Viennese Waltz in their routine. It was a lovely Waltz, but a poor VW.

It looked like a major error to me (of the same ilk as Pamela's 'recovery' from her spin), but not one of the judges mentioned it. It didn't look like it was choreographed (or if it was, it was phenomenally clumsy).

I agree it was all part of the choreography which I thought was very clever indeed (so did Craig btw) - the way it took the mickey out of him learning to dance was really well done.

I suspect some people didn't 'get' the jokes and there's not much that can be done about that.

Apart from some small timing issues, I didn't see any glaring errors at all, so it was worth at least an 8.

Way overmarked, and a strong whiff of manufacture about it all. The fun loving plucky Ann story has worn out let's all jump on the hunky rugby player going on a journey from shy dork to Astaire, might get a couple of weeks out of it.....

Gavin didn't really dance a QS at all. It was just a lot of messing about. It was entertaining, but it was not good technically.”

I wasn't making a direct comparison between the VW's - I was pointing out that the partners of the top 3/4 have choreographed routines (over all the dances - ballroom and latin) that have not conformed to the rules. I don't like this 'anything goes' attitude - but it isn't peculiar to Patsy and Robin or Gavin and Katya.

And there was VW and QS content in both routines under discussion - certainly as much of some of the competition in the series overall.

I like that the judges acknowledge Gavin's improvement and encourage him through their comments, but the scores should reflect how he performed relative to everyone else.

As Caig said, technically his Quickstep was a bit of a shambles so I'm thinking it wasn't worth 9's. And even though the performance side of his dancing has come on leaps and bounds, Gavin still doesn't sell a routine like most of the others do. He hasn't done a Gethin and totally broken out of his shell yet.

I do think he was a bit over marked but on previous week has been undermarked his position on the leader board was about right though

I just feel that when theye started giving AW 6's then this raised the marks for everyone else.

I have never felt that she deserved anything more than a 3

I for turning up

I for gonig to the trianing rooms as she was paid to

I for effort as I am generous( most weeks she missses out on this last mark as there is remarkably littel effort in her routines )

Anton last night looked exhausted after pushing and pulling her around the floor like a supermarket trolley with a wonky wheel

Agree. It does seem like there is only one set of paddles from 1 to 5 and Craig is the only one who knows where they are. Occasionally lending out the 5 if someone asks nicely and only then if he won't be needing it.

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me. I thought I'd been watching a different dance to the one the judges were talking about. Gavin clearly thought he'd messed it up too!

Where was the HUGE error, I know his footwork wasn't good but he did do all the steps

Gav didnot make an error it was part of the choreography.

I actually really liked the dance it had a real charm about it. I certainly preferred it to Pamela's and Patsy's (though I really enjoyed Patsy's as well). Therefore he was at the right place on the leaderboard regardless of marks.

Apart from Scott's it is the one dance that I have watched again.

A lot of people enjoy Ann's dances too, but concede she should be at the bottom of the table!

The judges have a job to rank the couples by how technically competent their dances were first and foremost. The audience then votes for who entertained them.

What I meant but did not explain as well as Jan previously was that if you look at Pamela's dance and it had been marked as it should have been then it would have probablky got 28/30 with Patsy at a similar level and then Gav on 31. So technically the dance was overmarked as the judges had nowhere to go to after marking Pamela's dance. It is an issue that has gone on since SCD has begun. Marking that 1st dance and then having to fit the other dances around that.

With reagrds to the entertainment factor, well if it was completly about the techniques why is Alesha there marking
