Ann: look at me, look at me!

I'll repeat what I have posted elsewhere.

I love to watch excellent dance as much as anyone, but I think Ann and others before her, show that dance is for everyone, young, old, fit, unfit, perfect rhythm or two left feet, Dance is to be enjoyed and to have fun, she is showing that imo.

If she and others before her encourage others who feel intimidated by glitz and glamour to take it up, then all is well with the world.

This is a celebrity dance/ entertainment show, not one of the participants will suffer any undue hardship other than to their egos if they don't hold the naff trophy aloft.

Well, my husband and I are part of the "whole nation" and we don't want to see her on our television screens ever again. I have yet to meet anyone who enjoys Strictly say they like her.

I agree with both posts.

And so do I.

Ann seems to be everywhere these days, newspaper articles, local radio and on and on. She is being seen and heard by non dancing fans who are now tuning in as they think her to be great for her age. I wish I had to oxygen of publicity to let them know she is younger than Felicity and not that much older than Pamela. It's the huge amount of outside coverage that's doing it for her. I would welcome a week where she just does the show and ITT, it would be interesting to see if she still survived.

And I have the highest regard for anyone who takes care of their parents and she looked after her mother until she eventually died aged 95.

And I also like Ann because she doesn't whinge. After the death of her brother, her only sibling and the last of her family she just got on with it. And she has recently had treatment for failing eyesight and is due another operation soon.

A very nasty post.

Being a devout Christian she believes that her brother has moved from this earth to another place. And like many Christians she believes that death is not the end. That is why she was able to carry on.

I'm not a fan of Anne W but your comment is cruel.

Were you lot watching the same show I was last night?

Ann was chatting - but replying to the comments made by the judges (even Craig) - NOT interrupting them.

But why bother? Everyone else just shuts up, nods, and adds a short comment at the end. We don't need her voice polluting the atmosphere of our rooms every twenty seconds that she can milk.

Anyone who's surprised by Ann's rudeness and constant interrupting has obviously never seen her on Question Time in the past. Vile person.

If you mean "right sizing" her majesty Craig then you are on thin ice.

Ann does not listen to what the judges have to say , simply because she has lost the plot and thinks she is better than she is . Personality vote yes but that's not what the programme is all about I feel very sad for the other dancers who are putting their all into improving weekly they must be devastated . However I don't feel sorry for Brendan he has
defended Ann on several occasions this last week saying she deserved to win I wonder how he feels now putting a
brave face on no doubt !! It would be a travesty if Ann won for personality yes BUT not for ballroom dancing it's a joke that's going sour at the expense of the other contestants who are sweating blood and tears to each excel more each week , plus wondering who amongst them will be going next knowing it won't be the worst dancer amongst them . Let's hope common sense prevails before all the best dancers have to go and the shows goes down the pan although I doubt it would bother Miss Widdecomb one bit sadly .

i'm really getting fed up that ann's been banging on for the last few weeks about what they have got lined up for the samba . she's treating latin and as non dancing and doesn't seem to care if she farts around in them, or the ballroom dances anton just ends up draging her around the dance floor. as for her doing the rumba. please let her going next week.

Ok, whilst I detest the woman's politics, you got to be fair here. It's a reality, celebrity based danced competition. You don't go into this show if you are a wall flower. They are all ego-maniacs – all successful celebrities have to be. The whole show is about self promotion, it's why all contestants are doing it. Ann just does it in a unconventional, but equally contrived way as the others.

I think you missed my point. My comment had nothing to do with Craig. I was merely pointing out that Ann is a habitual interrupter, as anyone who has seen her on political discussion programmes will know.

Who elected you national spokesperson?

At least your becoming more circumspect in your avowals - not so long ago you declared that the whole world was waiting with bated breath for Ann's next performance.

Why is Ann W called the "right honourable" when she is no longer an MP? I am assuming she is no longer an MP because if she was, she would seriously be neglecting her constituents by doing this show. I can't abide her and hope she is voted off soon but sadly everyone thinks she is "funny and cute", yeah about as "funny and cute" as a rottweiler on a good day..

Well, folks:

I'm not voting for Ann to stay in, apparently you aren't voting for her either, so who is? I mean, DS is the biggest media forum in the country, and everyone who subscribes to it isn't voting for Widdecombe, so who ARE all these people who do vote for her? It's a great mystery, but perhaps the inescapable conclusion, however awful, is that we DS subscribers actually are NOT representative of the GBP after all.

I think that's highly likely!

Obviously people are voting to keep Ann in - and whilst they do she will stay - no matter how many people gripe and moan. It is an Entertainment Show at the end of the day - and whilst I wouldn't waste my vote on her she has every right to be there - even if better dancers go first.

I have to grudgingly admire the woman - as she makes a complete laughing stock of herself every time she steps on the dance floor - but she is keeping fit, she is trying something new and is giving it as Tess is so fond of saying "her all". Good luck to her. I do hope she doesn't win - as that would be a complete farce - but if she does - I will have the entertainment of seeing Craig Revel Horwood doing an impression of Rumplestiltskin!!

Right Honourable is a title given to privy councillors, and is given for life, so AW is perfectly entitled (though extremely pompous) to use it.

But, Oi, what's with the bit in bold? You're not the only one with taste, you know.

Her rudeness to the judges is neither funny nor clever. I do question her intelligence when she says "Wait 'til you see what we're doing in two week's time..." When Tess, or Claudia, try to cover up her 'blunder' Ann goes on blithely repeating it!
