Has the Varied Dances Worked??
Magic Girl

This year every celebrity has a different dance (unlike previous years where there has been an either/or situation. Do you think this has worked? I personally find it difficult to compare the dances because they are all so different and require different techniques, style etc.

And i DO miss the group dances - these also made it easier for viewers to compare the dancer, as they all had to cope with more or less the same choregraphy.

But then perhaps lots of viewers simply vote on "personality" or "entertainment" not the dance ability.

This series has been no different from any other series where this issue is concerned.......every previous series has got to the stage when they all do different dances......it happens at about week 7 depending on the number of couples etc.....its mathamatically impossible to carry on doing either/or once all the dances have been used once. This year they havent used the American Smooth or Samba (yet) but even if they had it would only have delayed the change to all different dances by one week........

Oh and yes they should have done some group dances by now I agree.

Not for me. I am no expert and I prefer only two dances per week. It is easier for me to compare the contestants.

I miss the group dances a lot, and it seems so strange to think the Samba's gone.

If they're apparently doing a Las Vegas theme then I suppose everybody must be doing AS/Samba this week?

The Samba is such a stupid dance to do for the 'American' theme, surely it should have been the Jive.

I just hope the godawful Rock N Roll doesn't appear this week...

My point is that the variety has been in from the start, and with the large number of couples this has made comparisons harder.

I think they mixed up the dances too soon this series - week 4 is too early. In the earlier series it was at least week 6 before more than two dances were performed. I prefer it that way, as it is easier to follow the marking (in theory).

Was there ever a reason given for scrapping the group dances?

Series 6 and 7 both went to mixed dances at Top Ten, as has this series. There were just fewer couples to start off with. Personally (and maybe this speaks to me being part of the ADD generation) I prefer a mix. 12 people dancing in the same show and only two dances on display makes for the dullest part of the entire run.
