Why the Ann Hate?

OK Then!!!

Not a big fan of Ann widdecombe as an MP, or for the tories. However on Strictly she is entertaining, fun and i love to watch her. Why does everyone want her to go or not want her to win? At the end of the day its not x factor where the person goes on for a successful career so the best person must win, as soon as the final finishes, they all pretty much drop dancing and go back to their day jobs. Does it matter if Ann wins? She is by far the most popular and entertaining and most antipcated of the lot their. I say Ann to win!

Some people may not exist in a SCD bubble and know her views and policies on a lot of topics which are vile.

Others dislike her bombastic and overbearing manner.

Well said!!!!

All I want on a Saturday night is to sit in front of the TV and be entertained. Ann does it for me.

I think a lot of dance purists dislike her because she is far from foot perfect. But does that really matter on an entertainment show? She makes me laugh.

Good for you, Ann is giving us all a bit of fun on a Suaturday night, and good luck to her, I hope she gets through tonight with the help of the voting viewers who obviously love her, and why not, its the publics show.

Alarmingly most of those descrying her alleged bigotry lack any self-awareness of the narrowness of their own views. There is clear distaste for her lack of ability as a dancer but, given the number of people who cite her former job and religious/political beliefs (or their version of them) at the same time, the political views seem to me to be a decisive factor. Of course, one must also factor in a vocal minority who dislike Anton.

Since you ask and I haven't posted a great deal on Ann threads; I don't find her amusing anymore. The first few dances had a comedic effect and were entertaining, but now I just see more of the same for everycomedy dance. Am I a dance purist - I dunno! But I like to see people rewarded for improvement and seeing people who are better than her at dancing, exit earlier, I find disappointing. Ok so it's entertainmnet, but it is about dancing as well, so I don't base my opinion of her on her political views, but on her dancing ability, which even her most vocal supporters have to accept is not that good.

But it's a free world and if she wins, she wins. C'est la vie.

Can we have a simple logical answer on behalf of dance lovers who also appreciate all forms of entertainment

We do have a weekly contest where there is no written specification of how to vote, the JS or AW voters declare these contestants are entertaining, we assume then 50% dance performance and 50% any degree or style of "entertainment you choose

Now consider the AW foxtrot
Dance was dire, no musicality zero top half presentation and on odd moments her feet matched the dance

The entertainment 50%? there was no comedic content, no saucy non-dance content and I would be most pleased if you let me in on even 1 item of entertainment factor in the foxtrot

Allowing that it is a weekly contest tell me why she will be saved (she will be)

I don't hate her, there is far worse in the world to hate or even loathe.

She's having fun, good luck to her bucking the considered 'media norm'.

I don't hate her but...

- she is not entertaining
- she is not fun
- I don't love to watch her
- I want her to go because she can't dance as well as any of the others
- I don't want her to win because her dancing is terrible
- what has the x factor got to do with anything and actually you will find that they each get paid according to how long they last this year so yes it does matter
- it matters to me whether she wins or not, although obviously not to you
- how do you know she is by far the most popular? We don't know how popular any of them are because the BBC don't publish the voting. All we know is that she is getting more votes than those who are in the bottom two each week
- if you think she is the most entertaining then I can think of a few other things you probably enjoy
- i don't know what antipcated is but whatever it is I am sure Ann isn't the best at it.

She not even funny, just a complete joke in fact and someone who is costing better dancers a place because of the inept voting system, see the way the judges vote for her as a dancer

She should do the honourable thing and do a John Sergeant

There you go speaking for other people again. I find her about as funny as a dose of herpes.

I dont hate her - I dont tend to hate someone I've never met. However, I feel that she comes across as arrogant and her 'dancing' isn't in the slightest bit funny and/or entertaining.

I dont make a habit of making remarks avout the contestants but a Rumba from her might just tip me over the edge....

Oh thank heavens there's another thread that says exactly the same thing as the other 23. Shall I add my gratitude at reading the same thing over and over again to this thread that already exists in multiplicity or maybe I should start an entirely new one all of my own!

Thats a rather offensive message, I wonder what makes you feel the need to say something like that.

Good - you can go on wondering.

PS I haven't actually had herpes - I think she's about as unfunny as I suspect a dose might be.

Any reason you feel the need to speak for other people, TerryM22?

Rather silly to use it as a comparison then.

I know I'm being hypocritical here, but there are about 3 people on this board who continually start these Ann is so entertaining, why don't you love her as much as me, she's so funny threads, or posts, or arguments. If no one posted back to them, I have a feeling it might stop, or fade away.

Just a thought.

I'm not sure if (while she was performing her "former job")denying equal rights to homosexual on 15 out of 17 occasions (she was absent from the other 2 occasions) equates to "alleged". She also turned her back on her religion because she didn't agree with equal rights for women (so she is only "not bigotted" against straight men, and thank God that there is finally 1 person to stand up for them - but wait!, they are only after "one thing" and she is not ok with "that"!).

Also to descry means to discern (i.e. to perceive clearly), decry means to disparage or belittle.
