As for bringing in the punters, she might have done at the beginning but it is because Strictly isn't up against the X-Factor that the ratings have gone up.”

I have to leave the room when she comes on, or my tv would be in real danger, I would die of embarrassment If I were in anyway connected to Nellie, some say that she even gave a glimpse of her bridget jones bloomers last night...

Well, what about Anton? Each week he has to put himself through a ridiculous routine to please the uneducated airhead masses like you.
A laugh's a laugh, but the other couples are dancing their socks off, Artem was lifting Kara with a strained shoulder.... Glad that makes you laugh.
For millions of others, it doesn't.

The joke has worn so thin you can see large tracts of the UK through the holes in it. Also means so many people have to vote so many more times to overcome the airhead vote - but this just makes the phone companies richer.

You don't work for BT by any chance?

up until this week I have found her entertaining and as such have preferred watching her to many of the others.

this week however, I did not find her in the least bit entertaining and as such would be happy for her to go. However to be fair to her I don't think she is any less entertaining than either Felicity or patsy imho and as such don't have a problem with any one of the three going tonight.

The problem we have this year is that there are so many good dancers still in the mix that the vote coming from those who want to see the good dancers get to the final is going to be split allowing the "comedy" vote which is currently going to Ann to keep on getting her through.

I think we will lose one form Scott, Kara, Pamela or Matt before Ann goes and my money would be on Pamela as I don't think James;s choreography is up to the task.

I don't find Ann's dancing in the least bit entertaining. I wish she would stick to programmes like Grumpy Old Women, because that's what she is.

She made no attempt to dance this week again, and she was also grumpier than usual, if that's possible. I think the joke is wearing thin even with her now, but as she's still receiving a fat pay cheque for turning up each week she will continue as long as there are enough daft people to vote for her.

It's almost like the Victorian freak show thing or the the well off paying to go to Bedlam to laugh at the lunatics. I find it very uncomfortable to sit through.”

The UK are laughing at Ann.
The rest of the world are laughing at the UK.

The imortant word there is 'at'. People are laughing at her not with her. I find her shouting over the judges very rude, basic good manners says she should let them have their say. She doesn't attempt to learn the dance properly, and I would have more respect for her if she did. Her political career has nothing whatsover to do with my opinion of her. One of the delights of SCD for me is to see the celebrities improve their skills on the dance floor. I would rather watch a celebrity who doesn't dance well, but is trying hard to improve than someone who doesn't try.

My theory is that the British public feel threatened by talent and achievement so they always prefer to celebrate the mediocre. Our media takes great pleasure in building people up and knocking down them, and I think the British generally object to people taking initiative or putting themselves forward. Of course, this is all very un-pc so instead of saying that many Britons are insecure and bitter, I'll say instead that they love an "under-dog" (read: someone crapper than them).

They are laughing at her not with her .
They laughed with John sergeant becuase that is what he wanted and how he played it and when he began to think he may just go all the way to the final , as she said the joke was over . He was really poking fun at the show and at those who enjoy the dancing per se.

Ann is being laughed at certainly last night she was .She has a keen wit , it came to the fore on have I Got News For You , she was very entertaining and that is what she has been on Strictly , but not last night .I have no problem with Ann , she is principled and I admire her for that , and I have found her amusing on the show but she is not allowing Anton to choreograph anything decent and she could make an effort at a decent routine .You can see she works hard and she has trimmed up but that was just ridiculous last night and she looked ridiculous .

I feel Anton has now given up trying to choreograph a dance, because he can't and is playing it for laughs ; I feel sorry for him , whatever he is being paid he deserves double.

That said , there is a place on the show for such as Ann ; it's only us fans of the better dancers who get worked up about it .

Totally agree with you here. I have found Ann's dances entertaining, but last night was a dance too far, and she really should go.

It's not fair on the good dancers if one of them is to go because of Ann being popular with the viewers. I haven't voted for anyone this year - there are far to many good dancers - and any one of them can win

So us Brits who wants the Widdivac voted off Strictly are insecure and bitter? She's better than us so we can't stand to see her on our screens? We're threatened by a visually little old lady making a complete ********* out of herself? The media built her up? Into what exactly? As a theory, it's... a theory.

I don't hate her but here are a few reasons why I wish she'd be voted off.

She doesn't seem to be trying.
She isn't improving.
She won't get into the spirit of it.
She's homophobic.
She's a misogynist.
I would rather see better "dancers" dance.

These are my opinions of her. I do not state them as fact.

No, Sir Didymus is saying exactly the opposite.

Well to be fair to her , she has a waist now .

Though having just watched her again she is doing it all for laughs .

epsiondansant , I don't agree that she isn't trying , she is making an effort within the parameters she has set and I would have to be convinced that she is a misogynist .

I agree she isn't improving but surely she is in the spirit of a Saturday night entertainment show as much as any of them.

She's a blot on the strictly landscape and it is high time they put a stop to "joke contestants" altogether...

It is ruining the show for people genuinely interested in seeing the contestants learn to dance and competing on the basis of the progress they make.

OK they might loose a few viewers but there are always the children's channels for them.

I think the waist is due to a change in underwear.

Sadly I think there may be a lot of truth in that...

Have a google for the intelligence squared debate with Fry and Hitchens v Widdecombe.

Come back then and say you think she's prepared, smart, funny or entertaining.

Didn't she forbid in her contract all attempts to get her into

But she has set such ridiculously narrow parameters! Everyone else is slogging their guts out while she refuses to move out of her comfort zone!
