I wonder who blew them all out. They would have needed lots of puff.

I was really dying to see a dance routine that would require the pros to step neatly in a path through the flames. Make them earn that paycheck!

They were probably rehearsing for Bruce's birthday cake!

I was more shocked that they managed to move all the contestants off the stairs and within 30 seconds had arranged hundreds of candles on the floor for Annie Lennox' song.

They must be miracle workers at the BBC to do that so quickly in a live show.

The candles were far more interesting than the singer, IMO.

I was wondering if it was done by some kind of camera trickery, perhaps superimposing a pre-prepared image.

They often seem to 'project' the words 'Strictly Come Dancing' onto the centre of the dance floor. Those words are not actually painted on the floor. Or are they? I guess, that is done either by projecting an image onto the floor, or superimposing an image with some clever computer processing.

When you watch certain sports events, like swimming, they often superimpose moving graphics onto the live image.

Maybe someone who was present at the candle event can tell us what actually happened.

I reckon the whole sequence was filmed earlier in the day before the programme. Or even on a different day - last week even.

We wondered how they managed to blow out the candles so quickly without setting off smoke alarms - I know on my last birthday it caused a right kerfuffle!
We were also confused about the Soldiers - they appeared on the festival of remembrance on Saturday night, there were four of them, but on Strictly on Sunday there were only three! Did one have to stay behind to sweep up the poppies?
Or (and I have heard rumours that the Sunday show is actually not so live ) did they have to hotfoot it to the festival on Saturday and a random bloke just got in thier taxi and joined in? Talk about wibbley wobbly timey wimey!

Thats why I wasn't sure if it was the same song, it was longer when they performed at the Festival of Remembrance and there were 4 Soldiers!

That's what I thought too ! and that's the bit I enjoy. I also noticed that she didn't wear a poppy.

None of the results show is live!!
They had all day to do the show dances, the songs and the candle-lighting during the wait for the votes, or during the lunch break.

The dancers have probably had their results and gone home.
The only people who can tell you about what really happens are the people who go to the live shows and then post up their experiences afterwards, and such posts have been strangely absent this year, or at least on this board.

I think they were battery candles, not real.

We thought maybe the pros put them there to avoid having to dance to such a dreary song!

After the first verse my hubbie asked if I minded him winding up his bike light. It drowned her out nicely!

They weren't real candles. Wouldn't be allowed...

When I saw the candles I said, why all the candles? How log did they take to light? And they look dangerous, especially on that wooden floor. Love Annie Lennox, disliked the song though.

Gosh you're right. Someone should have raised this already, 10,000 times or so!
