When Aiden and Dannii were being interviewed by Konnie, Aiden praised Dannii and then Konnie said something about how the production team were always going on about how she is an 'excellent mentor' who spends alot of time with her acts and really cares for them.

Did anyone else catch that?

While we all know it's true, I couldn't help but think she was trying to suck up to her by that point.

Of course, she actively takes part in the show behind the scenes and gives her acts everything. Glad the producers have their own minds seperate from Lord Cowell's.

This is true. I love how natural and humble Dannii is all of the time. Any time Cheryl gets a compliment she puts on this smug smirk and starts being a cow.

Also, just want to mention I thought Dannii and Aiden were lovely tonight, when Aiden said he was going to miss Dannii

Simon said that earlier this year as well. She apparently spends more time with her acts than the others. Although that wouldn't be hard, tbh! I doubt Simon spends much time with 1D - he has quite a few other demands on his time and it's open knowledge that he has someone else to act as their first port of call when he is unavailable. Louis is a busy boy with Westlife, Jedward, Boyzone and his new girlband. Cheryl has her pop career which probably keeps her busy enough as well.

It's still the backstage creative team doing most of the work.

Considering that she is the best mentor it is only fair that she wins on what is probably her last series. I would love for her to win with Matt, that would make me so happy

I'm not surprised - even with Ethan and her other commitments this year, she does really seem to be invested in her acts. It's great that the producers have acknowledged that, though.

I wonder who this is, exactly.
I'd guess it would be Sinitta--she always seems to be lurking around the studio, tweeting a lot, appearing on VTs for Xtra Factor. IMHO I think she's the secret mentor and Simon just sits there on the weekends.

Yes, she may well be caring and spend a lot of time with her contestants but she does not always choose great songs for them. As much as I like Dannii, she did not pick great songs for Aiden. Apart from the first week he has looked totally out of his comfort zone and been really quite poor. I had not feelings for Aiden at all. I neither disliked him or liked him that much. In fact I was very indifferent. I really did not like the way he pulled his faces whilst singing, I thought it was a massive turn off!

I dont think that Dannii picked the right song for Paije last night either. So, even though she might be caring, lovely and there for her contestants she needs to put much more thought into their songs that they sing for the live shows!

And Dannii has a baby to look after. Slightly more demanding than getting up at lunchtime before spending a few hours in the bath watching cartoons.

He was hardly the easiest of acts to pick songs for, to be fair. Mad World for example was generally well received, but there weren't many raving about the quality of the vocal.

Well evidently a sufficient number disagreed, given that he avoided the bottom two despite being first up. I'm not going to pretend that I like the song, or that I didn't cringe a little, too. But I think he was the best on the night after Matt & Rebecca, all the same.

Haha!

Dannii has always been the best mentor - in the VTs she's always the one you see most at rehearsals.

It's no wonder it's Simon's acts who seem to change their song at the last minute more than most. He probably waltzes in on a Friday afternoon and realises it's crap.

I hope Dannii does win this year as well. It'll be much harder to justify dropping a winning judge from the panel. Come on Matt!
