For all those that are venting against Simon, his manipulation and his bizarre voting. For all those that would like to give him a metaphorical kick in the teeth there is one single out this Christmas that, if successful, would wipe the smile from his face. And it's for a good cause.
Whether you like him personally or not, this person has the capacity to annoy Simon probably more than anyone else. Yep, Steve Brookstein has a charity single out this Christmas. The link is here http://audioboo.fm/boos/217723-13th-dec-don-t-give-up
I am not specifically advertising the single but I think it would be great if the feelings against Simon could be put into something constructive and I think this would be as good a place as any, while supporting homelessness at the same time.
I'm sure there will be an anti-Brookstein backlash at this post but that's not really the point. An enemy of your enemy is your friend!

I'm behind the Fairytale of New York campaign. It never got to #1 and this will be the 10 year anniversary of Kirsty MacColl's death. The facebook campaign has nothing against the X-factor, in fact they don't even mention it. Last year I didn't take part in the RATM campaign because it was so negative, this is nothing like it.

I believe if anything should be Christmas #1 it should be this.

FoNY is the only legitimate choice for a campaign, as anyone with ears should know.

Steve Brookstein, you gotta be having a laugh.

I don't think there is only one legitimate campaign and I only said for it to be successful, not that it has to go to number one. I was trying to come up with a way for people that are annoyed at Simon (of which there seems to be many) to support someone that Cowell dislikes while at the same time benefitting homeless people around the country. I don't really see how that is having a laugh.
I find it quite depressing to see you being so dismissive of Steve and his attempt to raise some money for a good cause. I really don't understand that sort of attitude. Oh well.

Against Simon because of who he votes for? That's ridiculous! It's his opinion!!!!

I do agree going against Simon though for the way he treats the music industry, it's %99 take and %1 give with him, but last year we already proved he didn't have complete control, and he won't have christmas no.1 this year either anyway because of the amazing charity singles that are coming etc.

I think it would be a massive kick in the teeth for Simon if a Steve Brookstein song got the Christmas No1. That would kill him, but it would still be an X-factor product.

I'm all for the suggestion of 'Fairytale in New York'. McColl would have hated the X-Factor and everything it stood for. It would be a fitting tribute.

Songs like this are what the British music industry used to be about. Who hears the former X-Factor Christmas number ones being played year after year? And lets be honest, would anyone want to hear them? Bloody awful, all of them.

Surely if there is more than one "beat X factor for Christmas No.1 Spot" campaign then this will spread the polls and therefore leave it open for the X factor winner to get the spot.

The whole point of RATM was that it was a single point where all the disillusioned could pool their resources and therefore allow them to win.

I have heard about so many different campaigns (the silence one, the New York one, this brookstein one) it is getting a bit ridiculous now. If I dislike the winner of X factor I just won't buy their music.

Has no one thought that it would be fantastic if they weren't manipulated fools 10 times over and just kept their money in their wallets so far as Christmas singles went? This 'buy this to stop that getting the #1 spot is so juvenile.

I have been a RATM fan for a long time... but I didn't approve of the campaign last year. I wouldn't even place KITN in my top 20 rage songs... and I found it hilarious that the iconic line from that song is "**** you I won't do what you tell me" and people were buying it because they were instructed to by an anti X Factor campaign.

Again, just to point out, I was suggesting it's SUCCESS would annoy Simon, as a suggestion for something to buy for those people that want to help a charity and have a little private satisfaction knowing that Simon dislikes Steve Brookstein.
As far as I am aware there is no Facebook, Twitter or any other campaign for this to get to Christmas No. 1. And I'm not even saying people are right or wrong to be angry, irritated or anything else at Simon. Just that if they are they can get that little dig back AND help out others at the same time.
Merely letting people know that if it suits them and they want to they can.

I'd buy that. I won't buy heroes by the X Factor bunch.

Nice thread stevescotia!
Steve's single is out Dec13th and there are facebook groups and Twitter pages to support it. It even has Jon Morter of the RATM campaign's support! He put a link to the facebook group on Rage's page and said:

"We get hit with tons of 'Xmas No.1' campaigns on here...this one I'm quite happy to post up here as Steve was a huge help last year for us...an X Factor winner vs an X Factor winner?"

Have a listen- and if you like it, please join the facebook group and Twitter page and share/retweet:
