Viewers in Scotland don't have Channel 119. Instead, selected programmes could be watched in HD by going to Channel 977 and pressing the red button. For the last couple of days I've noticed that everything on 977 is SD, even the 'major' programmes.

I know I could simply input an English postcode but that would mean losing my local news on 103. Does anyone know why the red button function on 977 seems to have vanished?

Thanks.

Same problem here it doesn't work in Scotland anymore. No alternative HD recording option either its gone as well.

I retuned to a Borders postcode and you will still get BBC Scotland but not STV. Just added STV to non-freesat mode instead. You just have to make a choice do you want to have ITV in HD or do you want STV on your EPG as for the moment it looks like you cant have both.

I can only guess that STV pushed for the red button to be stopped as they don't want to loose out HD viewers and advertising. Soon as you retune to a borders postcode the red button starts working again on 977 and ITV HD is added as a channel on 119. So its definately been blocked out for STV region postcodes.

STV HD seems to have been broadcasting for ages in non-freesat mode, since around June I think but no sign of it appearing on the EPG yet no-one knows what the delay is. Though some people have problems tuning it depending on what box you have - it works on the humax I know that.

Thanks colin. Luckily, there aren't that many programmes on ITV that I watch. Think I'll sit tight until STV HD is formally launched. As it's on non-Freesat, it surely must arrive on Freesat in due course.
