Controversy aside, how many households were impressed by Katie's survival song?

There is no doubt in my mind that Katie's sing-off performance was her best yet - I can imagine an awful lot of the UK population watching that, turning to each other, and saying, like I did, "that was actually really good."
I think the tide HAS turned now - she wasn't bottom, and a performance DURING the main show of the calibre of her Aguilera cover should see her sail into the live final.
Cynics - don't bother posting in this thread - it's undeniable, IMV, that her song last night was genuinely world class.

Her voice is okay, if it belonged to a different person. I don't care if she sang it well, her whole demeanor is absolute shite!!

It does not matter how well she sings from now on. Still can't stand the girl.

Nah. Distinctly average imo.

She's got a very weak voice, and fair enough there are very successful singed with that sort of singing style, but Katie's version seems so amateur. She's very rarely in tune and her voice always breaks, not just when she's "crying" or forgetting her words.

You ask a question and then tell people not to post if they disagree with your post - Unbelievable

FWIW - she was crap in her sing off and crap in everything she sings - there, I've said it

I loved her singoff performance. She sang the song really well and completely deserved to stay.

She totally outsang Aidan, IMO. That's not a tough thing to do, the reaction to his performance in the live thread seemed more akin with that of the reaction of young children to a particularly graphic slasher film.

It was the same in week one when she was against FYD. The same people were stomping their feet because she didn't go but that was going to be the case no matter what she did.

Much like the judges, DS is inconsistent. Sometimes the sing off matters more than others!

I'd like to see her sing "Torn" by Natalia Imbruglia. Think it would be brilliant for her. Although she doesn't have long left!

Her sing-off performance probably was her best performance to date, but considering the quality of all her previous performances, that's not saying much!

I'll give her credit, though. She did stay in tune for the whole song. But it was generally uninspiring and I tohught Aiden did better, evn if he was out of tune in parts.

There was no way in hell her performance was world class, though. The very notion is a complete joke!

Katie just gets better and better. She is back in the race. I'm off to the bookies before everyone else catches on.

No shes c..p havnt liked her from day one day one or her voice. It makes me angry that she has taken a place that that someone else deserved. Just because she was already known by simon and was signed to one of his off shoot companys.

She's been through 4 sing-offs and outsang on every one (IMO). Aiden cracked with one ! She's tough and I love her voice because it's a bit different. I'm sick of hearing people belt out songs (like Treyc) - yes, maybe they have strong voices but they all sound the same.

With the right songs, Katie could be very good indeed. I'd buy her stuff

Not everyone thinks that Aiden deserved a place though, I personally didn't think he even deserved to be in the finals.

Vocally average but very good performance. Under normal circumstances it was a very moving performance, but we all know Katie who is just ......

You think she gave a good performance when she stopped mid-song to say "sod it," then sat on the floor and repeated the same line ad nauseum?

She still sounded quite good - she's human - she was sick of being villified ! Not surprised she cracked.

Katie's survival song was better than what she has done on the show, but still just OK.

What I can't understand is why the X Factor have been to such lengths to keep her in.

To be fair, it was her best performance on X Factor by a mile.

The big problem for Katie is that she is still an average singer at best. She clearly tries hard but her vocal ability is just not good enough. Lots of "oooh-oooh-ooohs' or 'aah-aah-aaahs' cos she just can't hold a long note.

She was better than Aiden and deserved to stay as she didn't get the lowest amount of votes. FACT!

I still dislike her though, and I don't like her singing voice either. They've got what they wanted, her on the tour, she'll be gone next week (unless Wagner is in the bottom 2)

She wasnt that good, dropped a few notes, and although I dont know the song myself, Ive seen comment she messed up the lyrics too.

She was better than Aiden though, it has to be said.

The point I'm TRYING to make....sigh....is I wonder how many people in the UK turned to their partner/parent/friend and said: "That was actually quite good."
I'm not saying she's the best singer ever, but with all the criticism of her singing (the awful Don't Speak comes to mind) , it's only fair that people give her credit where it is due.
