Press for this year's final
Just had a look into my crystal ball, and this article will be published in The Sun the day after this year's final:
The 2010 series of X Factor came to an explosive conclusion last night as Katie Waissel snatched victory from fellow finalists One Direction and Wagner. The studio audience erupted in jeers and booing as a visibly shocked Dermot O Leary read the result. And viewers at home were angered when cameras accidentally caught Simon giving Katie a thumbs-up gesture BEFORE the controversial result was announced. The final – watched by 10 million – had already seen some bizarre performances. One Direction opened the show, appearing in speedos which left little to the imagination and the words ‘Single & Available’ written across their chests, and had apparently sang Donny Osmond classic ‘Puppy Love’ however all viewers at home could hear was 3 minutes of high-pitched screeching from girls in the studio audience and Louis Walsh. Wagner was next up, making his entrance by being fired from a cannon and landing on the back of an elephant covered in tinsel. His rendition of 80s classic ‘Japanese Boy’ while pulling his own eyes into narrow slants was panned by judges Simon, Cheryl and Danni for being “inappropriate”, “tuneless” and “embarrassing”. Louis Walsh described his own act as “ground-breaking” and “like a modern day Bruce Lee”. But the most bizarre performance of the evening came from controversial act Katie Waissel who did not sing at all, but simply threw herself to the floor and threatened to throw “the most monumental tantrum in the world” if she did not win. The studio audience were not impressed when Simon Cowell called her performance “legendary” and “the future of the British music industry”. Cheryl Cole, clearly still seething about Waissel’s alleged involvement in Cher Lloyd’s mystery disappearance last week, refused to comment on her own act, prompting Simon to threateningly remind his collegue about his “influential role in her career”. Danni Minogue who announced her resignation live on last week’s show after her only remaining act, crowd pleaser Matt Cardle, was escorted from the studio by security after complaints from Waissel that he was looking at her “a bit funny”, laughed about Waissel’s odd performance and commented that she “no longer cared anyway”. Louis Walsh was missing from the judges panel, reportedly trying to break into One Direction’s dressing room. After the shocking result had been revealed, Cowell told viewers who had voted for Waissel that “they had made the right decision”. He laughed off reports that on-screen phone numbers allowing viewers to vote Wagner and One Direction had actually connected voters to an Argos store in Swindon and a Baptist church in Hull, stating “Look, I’ll just say this – if viewers really wanted to vote for those two acts then they would have tried harder to guess the correct telephone numbers. Waissel got 300 hundred votes, the other acts got zero. It’s as simple as that.” |
