Bluetooth/IR Jazz- quick question
Hi there- I'm looking to get a nokia 6230- and have a quick question about the transfer of pictures etc.
I understand I have to get a bluetooth dongle for my PC to transfer songs etc. to my phone. But 2 questions a) is bluetooth quick, or is IR better (and can you get IR dongles for a PC)? b) can bluetooth be used to transfer e.g. photos taken on the phone back onto your PC for storage? Thanks in advance Oh- and is the 6230 worth getting? |

bluetooth is the fastest in mobile transfer, IR is ok, but if you move the devices then you loose the signal and have to start again, from the correct shops, you can get a dongle for about 15-20 quid..... try searching an online store for this on ccl computers, they have a store near where i live and i get all my stuff there, cos there ace!!!
blutooth is the best way cos its super fast... hope thAT HELPS......

Even with Bluetooth, the data transfer rate will be very slow if you intend to transfer a lot of mp3 files to the phone.

Thanks for the info guys- good to hear good reviews of the phone too. Could you recommend a particular bluetooth adaptor (e.g. brand and model) because I just looked on ebay and there are loads of them out there- I don't want to get one that isn't compatible.
Also, as I asked before- can you use bluetooth to transfer data from phone to pc or is it all one way transfer? Many thanks people ![]() EDIT- just read in the other thread on the K700 about a data cable instead of bluetooth for mp3 transfer- is this worth getting if its quicker? And is there one suitable for the nokia 6230? So many questions- I'm so sorry, but I haven't really taken an interest in phones before...but all this new technology stuff is really exciting. |

Any Bluetooth will be fine.
Its 2 way transfers. I got a Bluetooth and found it too slow, I then bought a cable for the K700 and find the cable even slower, not logical at all but that’s what happened. Of course there will be a cable for the Nokia |

when i said bluetooth is fast i meant it was the fastest.....there is another method of file transfer out soon which will be available on the new PSP(handheld playstation) so watch this space...
like bubblensqueak says, any will be ok, as long as its for your pc and its bluetooth, it will be ok, now try and find the cheapest one and come back to us... try the site i suggested the other day, i got mine from there.....and if i can remember correctly, i got one for about 20 quid....and that was about a year ago..
