How can i stop screen turning on iphone?

I have just got a iphone and sometimes when i move the phone whatever is on screen turns to the long way so how can i stop it doing that please?

If you double click the home key and scroll through all the apps at the bottom of the screen until you reach the front you will see the rotation lock key. You can use this to lock the screen to portrait mode. This works on the iPhone 4 not sure about earlier models.

Nope just looked and on mine its not like that.

What version software and phone have you got? It works on the 3GS if you have up to date software. Not sure about the older iPhone 3G or 2G though.

The Version i have is 4.1 and mine is not a 3GS its about 18 Months old.

Not sure fully as i got it from ebay.
