Perhaps I've missed it but I haven't seen anybody discussing this yet

First clip here:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...or-single.html

No lines for Wagner,

Here's how the song is split up:

Matt: I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Rebecca: Though nothing will drive them away, We could beat them
TreyC: Just for one day,
We could be heroes just for one day
Rebecca and Belle Amie: We can be heroes
We can be heroes

Paije: I, I wish I could swim
Katie: Like dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Harry Styles (1D): Though nothing, nothing could keep us together
Zain Malik (1D) Oh we could be heroes
Belle Amie: Just for one day
We could be heroes

Aiden: we could be heroes
Mary and John: I, I can remember (I remember)
Mary: standing , Standing by the wall (by the wall)
Cher: And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)
We could be heroes.
Aiden: Just for one day
Everyone: We could be heroes
Rebecca: We could be heroes (ad lib)
Everyone: We could be heroes
Paije: We could be heroes (ad lib)
Everyone: We could be heroes
TreyC: We could be heroes (ad lib)
Everyone: We could be heroes
Mary: We could be heroes (ad lib)
Soldiers and contestants:
We could be heroes,
We could be heroes,
We could be heroes,
We could be heroes

Katie: Just for one day
Cher: We could be heroes
Liam Payne (1D) We could be heroes
Matt: Just for one day

So Matt starts and ends the song, 3 of the 1 Direction boys get solo lines, four contestants get to do a bit of ad libbing. Nothing for the early exits - FYD, Nicolo, Diva Fever, and Storm and no solo line for Wagner.

Sorry that looks really disjointed on the page Here is the original David Bowie track for anyone not familar with it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Phf0W...eature=related

Hmm perhaps the Sun have it wrong or they've swapped the verses around because it doesn't start with Matt's opening lyric I don't think!

She had been the favourite to win at the stage it was recorded I think. I did think that when I saw the Matt opener. Not necessarily who will win but maybe who they want to win.

From that tiny clip, I have to say I'm not loving what they've done to Heroes!

Perhaps they have now all been given lessons as regards holding the mic to their mouth before the lyrics start....Paije is awful at that

Not for me.

I don't feel guilty though. I had a brilliant time and bought lots of memorabilia in October at the History of the Big Bands tour in aid of Help The Heroes.

What a nightmare - a truly brilliant song sacrificed at the X Factor altar. Give your money direct to Help for Heroes - don't buy this crap

Well said.

I would certainly rather give a donation direct to whichever charity X-Factor has hi-jacked, than buy a single that gets Cowell or any of the contestants a (potential) hit to add to their CV's.

Its just another way for Cowell to try and manipulate the music industry and/or the charts - tagging a rubbish cover version to a charity, to encourage people to buy it.

Pretty sure it's Help For Heroes which is backed by The Sun and perhaps the reason, the paper has nothing but good to say about this cover. Bet Gordon Smart HATES it really

THE X Factor finalists sound spot on covering DAVID BOWIE classic Heroes for their new charity single.
Pftt, tell us what you really think Gord

I'm not looking forward to the undoubted mimefest of this on Sunday's show. Nothing will top the hilarious 2008 single performance when the overs got stuck behind the doors but Rach forced her way out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YBC5EtWt1c
My favourite bits are Alex miming to what is blatantly Ruth's Spanish accent and Austin looking completely and utterly lost with no idea what's going on

love the original by Bowie and no one can tak that away from us ... I'll have to listen to the full X factor one before making my mind up but from the clip it sounds like a typical X factor cheesy arrangement

I want Duffy to be no 1, can't they just not release it. Simon can give more than what the single would make anyway,

I don't think you can read too much into the amount of lines contestants are given. I remember on "Hero" 2 years ago one of the members of Girl Band seemed to be given quite a few lines despite the fact that they had already been eliminated from the competition (they came 11th), while Diana Vickers was only given one line (thank god) and she was one of the favourites.

Glad TreyC has been given a few lines. She was my favourite, was sad to see her go.
